Alchemilla Hospital Unity 3D (Test: Lighting & Shadows) Demo

Alchemilla Hospital Unity 3D (Test: Lights & Shadows) Demo 0.5

This is only a demo to show the Lighting & Shadows effects on the main level of the game, you can walk in the entire area, but you cannot interact with anything around you. I added a sort of giant flashlight floating around the level to show the lighting and shadows in real time. The final version will be in third person mode.

Hope you like this little demo ;) and more updates soon!!.

Unity is a very easy to learn game developer. Scripting is hard but environment building was pretty simple.

Alchemilla Hospital Unity 3D (Test: Lighting & Shadows) Demo

Post by HalfTransition on Sun Aug 05, 2012 12:42 pm

I just played it. It looks great the graphics are very good even when I set it to low quality.

CJ > Yeah, I just started using unity, it's an awesome engine and we can even legally sell our PC games (but when we start making a lot of money, I think from $40 000 and on, we have to give them 15% of the money earned for each game sold starting from that point) which is pretty awesome.

But for modeling, I was thinking of buying a licence for 3ds max but it's pretty expensive and for free I have Blender which can do pretty much everything 3Ds max can do.

However, I have a question for OP: When I create my rooms on blender, I create a cube I extrude many times to create the rooms. So, the walls are thin (they are basically only planes). Some other people create their rooms by creating a ground with a flattened cube and creating a subdivision surface (X25 most of the time) and then extruding the walls from the flattened cube...

So when I import my room (created on blender, made by extruding a cube, so thin walls) and I add the first person controller, my character can walk in the room but he can also pass through walls... this is a problem.... is it because my walls are thin and not thick? Or is there something I forgot?

thanks in advance. :)

You have to activate the: Generate Colliders option in the Inspector menu

Or you can create cubes with the same size of the walls and other objects and deactivate the Mesh Renderer option

This is freaking awesome!! :o I'm sure it's not too hard once you learn how to use these programs and are experienced with modelling and the creation, but as a person who's not experienced, I don't know how you do this!  It looks amazing to say the least!! I've always wanted to be a video game designer, but never had the opportunity to learn how or had any programs to do so either. Nor have I ever had anyone to help me   I'm sure I'd need if I tried.

Oh, wow. Great work! This is exactly what I was planning to do. I have the free version of Unity, and I'm studying game design by myself. I want to use a SH inspired map to practice asset and level creation, movement and interaction (pretty much all the basics). But now that I've seen your work with real lightning and stuff, I guess I'll look for another map. :P

I guess I'll try Brookhaven or the apartments from SH2. Though it's kinda hard to "improve on their visual quality" with Unity free. :P

Anyway, good job! Do you plan on making games? :]

ps: oh, and hi community. :D

Please tell me you're turning this into a fangame. :DD

I kind of want to make my own SH fangame. That would be pretty sweet. Did you make your own textures/music?
