I would have to say my favorite ost track is promise, its such a memorable song. it makes me feel happy inside, though im sure it had the same effect on everyone else too. also i should say its a really fun song to play on the drums . im always playing along to promise on my drum set.

I set up my alarm clock to wake me up with "Promise" each morning; it's nice and calming to wake to. As for my favorite track... it's hard to choose; "Alone in the Town" and "Laura plays the piano" are pretty high on my list though. It's such a strong album, I'd have an easier time picking my least favorite track (Angel's Thanatos).

It would be great even if it wasn't in the game, but the game just makes it that much better...

My favorite songs with a bit of explanation for each.
Promise: Love the chord progression. The solo is easy to play, but it's got so much soul.
Promise (Reprise): Wonderful melody that's repeated throughout. Though it's very simple, I find myself drawn to it.
Theme of Laura: I was originally drawn to this because my main instrument is the guitar. When I heard this, I was mesmerized and really wanted to figure out how to play the song. Akira Yamaoka always uses wicked tone as well, which is part of why I dig this song so much.
Theme of Laura (Reprise): I'm drawn to pieces that have heavily repeated phrases. It reminds me a lot of what you might hear in a Bach or Beethoven piece: lots of repetition, pedal tones, etc. It has some super sweet violin, too.
Love Psalm: This one caught me by surprise, but if you listen long enough, it picks up and really layers a lot of the tones. Love the lines Yamaoka takes here.

God bless Laura. She's so good at playing pianos. And no wonder Angela was so passive during the apartment cutscene. It's because she's been listening to Promise(reprise). This piece just really takes you to your own otherworld.

Mine would definitely have to be either "Alone in the Town" or "Terror in the Depths of Fog". I kind of like think of Alone in the Town as my own little theme song. :3 There are points of darkness in it, as well as a sense of loneliness, however, a sense of freedom, happiness, and joy. So many emotions mixed into one. I stayed at the Bowling Alley for minutes on end just listening to it.

I also loved Terror in the Depths of Fog mainly for the symphonic portion of it. I have a HUGE soft spot for orchestras and symphonies, so when I hear one in a song, it catches my heart.

Oh! And, I can't forget about the Music Box from the Lakeview Hotel. ;D

I did love Promise (Reprise) as well though.

Love Psalm needs a lot more appreciation. The solos, the part at 1:58 and the whole build up to the end, the whole thing is my favorite "rock" track of the OST. I distinctly remember taking to this song because I felt like I could hear it in the background of some movie, kind of muted while a conversation scene took place in some smoky town environment. It gave me a really cool feeling walking around school or town and blasting it in my ears the whole way. Theme of Laura and Promise I like for pretty much the same reason, but not as much as Love Psalm. Overdose Delusion really feels like incredible credits music, but I like it for giving me a kind of "free" feeling. I always had to listen to it while I was out and it was windy.

Getting away from the guitars and drums, Forest is a big favorite of mine, Laura Plays the Piano, and Theme of Laura (Reprise). I tend to like the tracks that give me a sense of solitude while I'm out walking around, especially if the environments matches that of the game sometimes.

I love the entire OST but I'm gonna go with Theme of Laura, Magdalene and Black Fairy.
Theme of Laura and Megdalene both make me feel sad and I love the atmosphere Black Fairy creates.

The Reverse Will is really great. He has a backwards Laura's prayer which was not included in the game, it's a mix of modern and Native American sounds. He even includes a flute solo.

I have a new appreciation for Ordinary Vanity and Null Moon.

Eddie's Ordinary Vanity is kind of similar to Angela's Promise (reprise). There is this sweet sound of the piano combined with the creepy and ominous hollow sounds but it's melody is even colder and slower than Promise (reprise); maybe because it indicates that Eddie's emotions are colder than Angela's. It's my new otherworldly piece next to Promise (reprise).

Null Moon gives me an impression of intoxication and inebriety.... so relaxing.
.... and.... kind of melancholic. It fits Maria so well.

I know that the OST of the whole series is wonderful, but SH2's ST is the best, I think. I feel like it conveys the melodies of emotions so well.

Yeah, mine has to be Overdose Delusion. Awesome riff which champions my favourite ending. It has an air of stoicism about it. Like a tenacious and driven attitude that is still laced with melancholy. Perfect encapsulation of 'Leave'.

Betrayal is a favourite of mine too.

"I was weak. That's why I needed you... I needed someone to punish me for my sins... But that's all over now. I know the truth. Now, it's time to end this..."

And then, the choir sings, heralding the coming of the angel of death. James himself tears down the world of illusion and denial that, through the town, his own subconcious had built up around him. He destroys the fabrications he no longer needs and faces the truth. Inspiring and beautifully simple arrangement which still makes use of grimy, raw industrial percussion to accompany it reminding the player that even the most transcendent moments in life are still very much based in a world filled with imperfections.

The whole damn soundtrack is just great. I love Terror In The Depths Of The Fog (can really hear the NIN influence), Promise, Promise (Reprise), Theme Of Laura, Forest and, of course, the gut-busting Angel's Thanatos.

It's weird that Thanatos is the title of the 'In Water' ending theme. I wonder who, if anyone, is the 'angel'. Perhaps Maria? Maybe she is forced to wish for death (Thanatos = death drive) subconsciously (as shown in the duality of her nature in Born From A Wish, where she says she's afraid to die and then later holds a gun to her head), in order to fulfil her role as the vessel James uses to punish himself and force him to acknowledge his crimes. *shrug*

YAY! SOMEONE ELSE WHO LIKES IT!

Even though I've answered this somewhere else. My favorite is definitely Alone in the Town, though, I'm sure most of you already knew that. As I've stated before, I consider it like my theme song. It has darkness, peacefulness, cheeriness, loneliness, sadness, and happiness, all in one song. Kind of like me. XD

I also love Terror in the Depths of the Fog, mainly for the symphonic half of the song. And I have a soft spot for symphonies.
