Anyone else annoyed at the lazy re-use of SH music?

This is exactly my reason for posting this which is clear from what was originally written...
I didn't 'decide' to think about those scenes, it's called a memory.

For some strange reason, I don't have any strong feelings one way or the other on this. Which is odd, because music in a movie is usually a big deal to me. (I hated The Core just because of the music. True story.)

I guess it's probably because it was music I already loved from the games, so I almost expected it to be there. I agree that it was pretty lazy, but I don't really care either.

It looks like things are getting too spicy for the pepper.

I thought it worked well in the film, but I imagine if an original soundtrack was created, it would probably be better. One problem I see with reusing music is that I have particular associations to particular scenes in the games, but the use of the same music for the film breaks these associations and runs the risk of not having the same dramatic and emotional effects experienced from the game scenes.

It also sucked to have all this hype built up about the soundtrack and then nothing...

I didn't like it.

It just seemed to me that the developers thought something like: "Oh, we'll use that song from SH3. That'll make fans scream in joy." It also seemed a little forced in some parts.
I love the Silent Hill Series. The new games did nothing wrong whatsoever, they were developed well, and did things different. I believe that Silent Hill Downpour will make all Silent Hill fans happy. Team Silent doesn't exist, but their series does.

Most of the time I found it acceptable, but the way they use Promise, they added strings to make it more intense I guess? All that happened was Rose chasing Sharon, and Sharon disappeared. The feel of this music is like guilt, regret and despair all at once. Not where is my daughter going? And chasing a little girl is not intense enough to warrant a walking string accompaniment. It was just way off. The rest of the time, the music placement wasn't beneficial, so it did seem lazy, but mostly patronizing.
No more questions! We have Rosemary!

There was news of a new OST? I don't remember that. I remember loving that they used the old music, but at the same time, I had only played SH3 and knew little of the music as a whole so most of it was new for me.

I don't remember hearing about that.

I also don't think the re-use of the music was lazy. You might say the fact that they reused it is lazy, but it was re-used about as effectively as possible.
The above post is intended to be factual, unless it isn't.

No one cares about your studies, man. That's a card that people only wave when they want to use their educational background to discount the opinions of everyone else. You can argue a person studies movies by simply watching them, too. Doesn't matter/not impressed.

Either way, I'm more annoyed by fans that complain about stupid things. The soundtrack was great.

Hence why I said I'm a film major and had no problem with it. :P

I thought it was perfect. But of course i would've LOVED to hear new Akira stuff. But there's just some essential classics that had to be in the movie IMO.

Speaking of the movie, I had a soft spot for it because it had the Akira Yamaoka game scores (and also I thought Laurie Holden was both hot and talented). To be honest though, the movie really isn't that good on its own. I had my father, a long time horror fan, watch the movie. He'd never even heard of the games, so his unbiased opinion was that the movie was average. He felt the concept of Alice Krige's character was cliche and a bit of a rip-off of Piper Laurie in Carrie. I tend to agree that part of the movie was weak.

With the exception of Letter From the Lost Days(which better be in Revelation or I will punch things),it all fit nicely.
The music worked, and added something extra for the fans.
My dad and I for example, listen to the music often because we are deranged people and it for some reason is great art inspiration music-so we annoyed the crap out of my mother in the theater by bouncing around everytime we heard a song and giggled to each other which game and what scene it was from.

I didn't really mind it. It might not be easy to notice, but most of the songs in the movie were actually "covers" by Jeff Danna. You'll notice if you compare side by side. So technically they did make music for the movie, just most of it wasn't original.

Akira is given credit as executive producer and co-credit with Danna for the music.

I found the music for the film very awesome, and I'm positive it fitted every single scene perfectly. Fermata In Mystic Air during Alessa's past scenes went along amazingly well, so did the organ track played when Alessa kills the Brethren, Promise Reprise during Alessa's scenes etc.
Don't forget the fact that the tracks were remastered, for example the promise reprise songs are VERY different than their game versions. The movie version of "LAST BOSS REMIX" from SH3, a big part of it is a completely original composition by Jeff Danna. My point is the game tracks weren't just mixed and used. ;)
For some, it may not be good to reuse tracks from the games, but hey it's a game to movie adaptation, and as they change the storyline, they change the songs. It's kinda logical, don't you think? ;) They will do the same thing with Revelation, but the score for this one will please you more, since it will contain more original tracks than the 1st film.

I didn't find it lazy, i liked hearing the music and each time it came on it felt like a tribute to the fans. Look at the Resident Evil movies, they just used metal tracks and crap, nothing creepy from the game. But then again SH has always had a rocking soundtrack thanks to Akira and Mary.
