Eh, I don't think the picture influenced Travis in 0rigins. I think it looks like a teenage boy with a baseball cap and letterman jacket on.

Got an email back from Andor:

Hi,
I got from the customer a very low quality Travis character (I think from an earlier game), I made a upgraded re-modelled/re-textured character for the Origins game.

That could mean a variety of things. It could mean he received an early build of Climax's character and was tasked with upscaling him, or it came from earlier SH source. As much as I want to think the latter, it's probably the former. I think in order to get a concrete answer regarding the concept of Travis would be better directed towards the writer of SH: Origins or game director. I can't find their contact info anywhere, though.

Awwww I so hope it's the latter, I wonder if the low res model.. is similar to the one pictured?. Also just to note I've tweeted a question to one of the senior designers on the project, hope he'll get back to us on it!

The thing is... it's not like he doesn't make sense appearing in SH 3.. Since origins is canon, essentially he is part of Alessa/Cheryl/Heather's memories.. so it would be cool to tie him to the third game somewhat.

Judging by the pictures, it looks quite possible they had planned to foreshadow a prequel(is that possible) both deal with Allessa, as in Heather is allessa. So quite possible. Or maybe coincidence. But I don't believe in coincidence.

It'd definitely be an interesting blow to some in the community if it comes to light that Origins was a KCET plan all along.

Its possible that someone who worked on origins could have seen this and used it as a format for travis. Who knows.

To understand the design of Travis (and probably catch it's source) you should remember a bit about SH0 game's history, it was rumored first to be a remake of SH1, named Silent Hill: Original Sin and the intention of the producer was to tie it to the upcoming movie of Silent Hill, making it a remake but changing Harry for Rose Da Silva, but Konami didn't like the idea so then they decided to make it into a prequel, now after this they handed the project to Climax USA, but after a few gameplay concept previews (and a few issues), Konami decided to take the project from Climax USA and gave it to the UK team, they pretty much tossed away a lot of what was already done in this first stage, and remade the game in a more traditional SH shape (it was very RE4-looking in the first previews). But even so, if you see those first stages of development you can see Travis was already designed that way:





What the designer replied in the email might mean that he got handed this basic model of Travis from Climax USA which he had to re-do (and from the previews of the first stage of development i can tell some the old models were AWFUL), the source and the first ideas behind it's design must come from Konami or from the sacked USA team.

It's an interesting find anyway, but even if Travis had his story with Alessa, i don't see how Heather would have his picture... She's 2 re-spawns away from that xD (Alessa-Cheryl-Heather). I still wish there was a way for her to have it, dunno if Harry had any contact or knowledge of Travis. May not work story wise (even tho i love the idea), but there is still some chance that there was already a plan for Travis to exist , specially if Konami itself denied the idea of a Remake in pro of a prequel (probably adjusting to it's original plan ;D).

I doesn't even look like Travis to me. He has a hat? So does over half the population of men walking the Earth. Unless I'm colorblind, it's not even the same color. You can't see the persons face either.
