Wondering about the update

Post by PureBlackAura on Sun May 13, 2012 6:08 am

This is not intended to be a bump post. i'm just wondering if anyone has any new information since its been a few weeks since the announcement about the update. I'm not in that big of a rush now since I have Fatal frame trilogy W00T!

No new details from what I can tell. They did a Fatal Frame trilogy, as in HDC?

That would be great but I'm talking about the PS2 versions. I found them and bought the entire trilogy ... really really good games

I'm guessing it's gonna take a while since they basically have to start all over and transfer it through an update.

Perhaps the old SH3 voices (if they ever come) or the overhaul will be too big for an update. Perhaps it'd be a better idea to release it as free DLC. BioWare does that with Mass Effect 3, with new races and weapons and stuff for the multiplayer, it just comes as free DLC. Same thing with the extended ending.

Only one thing about that bothers me .... the " OMGWTF DLC for a silent hill game?!?!?!?!" backlash that some fans would just erupt about. Me personally I wouldn't have single issue with it being free DLC because even though the PS3 doesn't have a patch size limit the 360 does which scares hell outta me as to how if not DLC how is this patch going to work?

I don't think file size is an issue. Patches don't have file size limits on PS3 from what I can tell, as I've downloaded patches that were 4GB+ before. Burnout Paradise comes to mind, as do the Battlefield games.

I don't think the original SH3 voices will come. Most likely the patch will just fix all the issues that are currently present. The patch is taking a while because they're basically going over the entirety of both games all over again, and they're also gonna end up spending a good 2-4+ weeks testing the hell out of it as well.

All might seem a bit much, but this would've never happened if Konami didn't randomly end production in the state the game was in in the first place.

As for patch size on 360...That sucks for 360 users. I don't think the patch will be a bazillion gigs though, since the update will be fixing pre-existing code which doesn't really take up much space. Now if they were to add in the original voices for SH3, that's where the big file size would come from.

Out of all the SH games it would be the nicest is 3 had the original voices.

Well, a new article came out today that pretty much reiterates what the original 1UP interview with Tomm Hulett said, but there was no mention of a patch at all. I think that would be pretty vital information to include in an article of this nature, but blah... :/ I would like a status update of sorts to let people know how things are coming along. The issues with Downpour should've been real easy to fix. I guess they're going to release the patches simultaneously, though. :'(

I think this "article" is just a late copy-paste job from the 1up article, probably why there's no patch update. The quotes in that article are pretty much word-from-word taken from the original 1up interview.

Oh man, as much as I love the new SH2 voices, I really would like to play with old SH3 voices. The new ones are like listening to an anime :/

Pretty much. Slow news day.

You say that like it's a bad thing. :D

I wonder if Konami will announce anything about it at E3. It's all wishful thinking, however.

Lol if it was an anime that was dubbed I would understand, because it's better to listen to the original voices most of the time.

For me it was the opposite, hated 3(all of them), could stand 2(aside from Maria).
