Post by AgentZero on Sun Apr 22, 2012 12:51 pm

So I'm looking in to getting a PSP for my birth day, I was wondering if for PSP is it any better than the PS2 by any chance?
My GT is RE FAN 85 currently I will play online with you if you have
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil ORC
Gears of War
Gears of War 2

No. Wii is best, then PS2, then PSP.

Its a good game none the less, but I would recommend the wii or PS2 version. Also, Monster Hunter is an awesome PSP game ;)

I played it on PSP first and it is fine. I heard that the ice looked like shit in the PS2 version, though. I can't recall any other real issues i've heard about for this game, besides problems with savegames getting deleted, but I never experienced that. I would recommend the PSP version.

If you can get the Wii version, get the Wii version. It's easily the best version.
If you really must, though, the PSP version is okay.

I think the thread was about him getting a psp for his birthday, so.. I'm guessing not. But it was made for that, so I'm sure Wii is the best version.

However, of PS2 and PSP, I think PSP is probably better.

Personally, I like the PS2 version. It looked much better to me than the Wii version, but the puzzles are clearly developed for the Wii. I've played the PSP version of Origins and it looked very close to the PS2 version. They're both developed by Climax so I think they'd look similar. The PSP doesn't have as high of a polygon count or as good of shaders, but it still looks pretty solid.

well I got a PSP and looking to get this game along with RE, RE2, RE3, SH, SHSM, SHO,
I will never in my life buy a wii ( My moms looking to get one) But if I do get one whats the point of having the same game on different platforms.
As long as SM is not like completly broken and if some say its better than PS2 then that will be fine I was looking to get this because I want to play something on the road or out of the house, and because I currently do not have it for PS2 anymore

Since you'll have it for the PSP there's not a lot of reason to get it for the Wii besides that the controls were tailored for it. There are some pretty good games out there on the Wii, though.

Hopefully you're not biased against the Wii as a 'kiddy console', because it has some damn good games out for it. :\

Yeah, I've seen videos but my ps2 broke before this came out for it. I guess it comes down to whether you want it on a handheld or a tv screen, if you're going for playstation options. The lower polys didn't bother me too much, since it was on a tiny screen anyway.

I'm sure Wii is the nicest. I just wasn't interested in the console, so I waited for the PSP version to come out. I'm sure certain puzzles and the otherworld stuff would be best on Wii though.

I haven't heard anything terrible about any version of this game though, so I think it just comes down to whatever your preference is.

Agreed. My cousin had it for Wii. It was more frustrating to me that way, but it was received the best by critics. The controls translated well to PS2, luckily. Some games can be drastically different depending on the system. Climax managed to keep it pretty consistent across the board.

Neversoft and Vicarious Visions are nefarious for doing crap like that... developing two (almost) completely titles under the same name for different platforms.

Seeing as those series appeal to all ages, I don't get it, but there are plenty of other games on Wii as well. Resident Evil has a whole slew of 'em, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, Fatal Frame IV, and Metroid Prime come to mind.

What Yuki said. Hell, the newer Zeldas are more for adults than kids. You're really missing out on some awesome games by ignoring Nintendo. Trauma Centre, Okami, No More Heroes, Madworld, among many others. That's like me saying that I shouldn't own a 360 because Kinectimals and Kameo and Forza are too young for my likings, or a PS3 because Ratchet and Clank and LittleBigPlanet are too kiddy.

Never had problems losing save states in the PS2 version. But I did have problems with random cutscenes freezing and dialogue falling silent all of a sudden. I bought it new and it only happened on my first few playthroughs. Make of that what you will. I know it's not my PS2 since it's still in good shaped and I make an effort to clean it.

Not a fan of the Wii myself. Strongly disliked how Nintendo built their entire console around motion control gimmicks instead of trying to create a competent, contemporary gaming console. They realized they carried the motion control shtick as far as it could go, now they have to create another console just to be able to compete with the 360 and PS3. It's airheaded thinking.

I just wish they could create a straightforward gaming system that really entices third parties to get involved without having to be some stupid catch behind everything they do like mediocre online play, motion controls, useless touchscreen on a controller that only drives the controller price up, etc. Last decent system they had was the Gamecube, but their stupid business decisions from the 64 era kinda discouraged third parties from getting more involved.

This is perfect for Silent Hill on the go, travel on Airplanes especially, i like watching strangers watching me play haha. it has awesome interactions with the Wii, but it is definitely not my first choice of system

Having played both the PS2 and PSP version I would recommend the latter, as the PSP's visuals are much crisper and cleaner (kind of important for a game which places such a high priority on examining details in the environment), and there are noticeable graphical glitches present in the PS2 version I did not see on PSP.
The above post is intended to be factual, unless it isn't.
