Ratio asked you all to cut the bickering, so do so right now or you will gain yourself an infraction.

I've made my peace on the matter, I'll just ignore that guy from now on.

Carry on, everyone.

Don't give it much thought, some members had it against me since day one because my opinion differs from theirs and i don't mind one bit expressing it.

I hate that this doesn't really help me since i don't have XBL, only a hard copy of the game. I truly want to experience the hd collection as t was meant to be experienced: polished, smooth flowing, and sith no sound or visual glitches.

Methinks they just rushed an unfinished game. Imagine how better the situation would have been had they freaking waited a bit!

You don't need to pay for XBL to download and use patches, you just need to connect your 360 to the internet and set up a free XBL Silver account.

My, my. It's nice to see that Silent Hill tends to bring people together like mixing oil and water. Many of us seem to be making a mountain out of a molehill because someone's opinions are unpopular.

The tech issues will supposedly be resolved. Although, I know why people are more than a little apprehensive. Konami has said things and promised things that don't hold water. So, their "faith" in Konami is shaken at this point. Therefore, I understand the skepticism with the new patches. I, myself, am skepticle of it. I think the hardware/software is inately flawed.

This. And that's why I got rid of my copy of SHHD. My PC copies and PS2 copies are in perfectly good condition.

Also, I don't think I'm being overly negative. I had to buy a PS3 just to play SHHD and Downpour. I also bought an extra copy of SHHD to give away in a site contest, and 2 SHD guidebooks. All together, I spent nearly $500 just to play these two games and promote them on my site. I certainly wanted them to be good, or I would not have done that.

However, I am happy that people just now buying the game may be able to play it with fewer problems, and I look forward to downloading the PS3 SHD patch and replaying. I won't be replaying until then. Still, I think a lot of people feel it's a bit too little, too late, and may have finished the games without intention of replaying them, so their opinions on them will probably forever be tainted by lagging and glitches. Others may not have their consoles hooked up to the internet, etc.

Also, just 'lag and audio issues' makes me think 'lag and lip-syncing'. There's still a lot of problems with the audio, so hopefully they'll be fixed too, but the patch is already probably going to be quite large, so I don't know if there's going to be room, they have to fix 2 AND 3 remember.

There's still going to be a couple of pretty big issues with the HD collection if it's just lag and lip-syncing, but at least it'll be playable, it's impossible to properly soak up the atmosphere right now, and I appreciate that they're fixing it, but a few of the audio issues (primarily the weapons) fracture the immersion of the player as well. A dream patch for me would fix the lag, all the audio issues, add fog and add the removed audio, specifically the historical society staircase sound. I'd like the old voices for Silent Hill 3 as well, because two of the best characters, Vincent and Douglas, hold a lot of their presentation in their voices, but patching that in sounds pretty impossible in conjunction with the rest of the space-hogging fixes.

If the patch does fix the issues with Downpour, I will be a very happy camper.

Question to hullett if he's willing to answer: Is the patch gonna include SH3's orignal voices?

Highly doubt that's gonna happen. Why would they put it in the patch if they didn't put them in the game in the first place?

Well someone has already dumped the contents of the disk to his computer and the original voices are on disk just not in anywhere near the right part of it .... So it is possible but I doubt it as well and not because I'm being negative but mostly because the original Sh3 cast hasn't gave up there rights for there work in the original.

Hullet had said they didn't include the original voices due to some technical issue, but seeing as how someone with a hacked 360 capable of playing modified games proved that wrong within days of the HDC's release, in would be nice if Konami included the option for those of us who don't want to hack our 360s and can't hack our PS3s.

They're on the disk? That's cool, it would almost be like a tangible apology for the HD collection being such shockingly poor quality to get them patched in.

No, the guy ripped the original audio files for the voice parts from the PC version, replaced the ones in a copy of the 360 version with those, and burnt a new disk of that. Granted, there is the issue of how big Sony and MS will let them make the patches which you mentioned earlier, but what can't fit in the patches could always be offered as optional DLC, preferably free. Besides, offering the original voices would be an easy fix for the audio-sync issues, whereas otherwise they'll have to either rework the new audio to match the original animations or rework the original animations to match the new audio.

Isn't it just a problem with the programming versus the audio not actually matching up...? From what I've seen online the lines are just delivered differently; their timing hasn't changed.

I doubt they'll put them in. The issue of not having the rights comes up again, and the "technical issues" Tomm mentioned, I'd guess, were the lack of time to be able to test them and make sure they come out right.

The problem is the new voices don't always match the timing of the originals well, and don't even match the words of the originals in a few spots, while the animations are still the same ones which were programed to match the timing and phrasing of the original voices. For example, note how Heather's "A detective, really?" comes notably late in the unmodified HDC but matches perfectly when the new voices are replaced with the originals. So again, putting the original voices back takes far less effort than reworking either the new voices or the original animations to sync.

As for rights, I'm pretty sure I recall Hulett saying on Whitney's podcast that there was never any real issue with rights over the voices for either game, just misconceptions sparked by Cihi's unfounded complaints.

Because i want them, and i'm only speaking for myself but im pretty sure im not the only one. + If SH2 included them, it's only logical to also include them for SH3.
