Looks like they are working on a patch after all. [UPDATE]

Post by NarooN on Tue Apr 24, 2012 5:35 pm

Taken from a post over at GFAQs, a user received an automated response, but the contents of the response is the interesting part:

Thank you for contacting Konami Support.

Please note that the development team is working on a fix for these issues. However, we do not have an exact release date at this time.

If we receive any updates on the issues or if the team has more questions we will be in contact.

We again apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Regards,
KDE-US Support

EDIT: Patch is confirmed: http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/25/konam ... ollection/

The email also was not an automated response.

It's better than nothing, guys. It's a response that promises something. That's more than what we've been getting.

I'd take their 'promises' with a grain of salt.

LOL, appropriate pic. But I guess these responses are normal, I mean this *is* the SH community, where you have to be negative about everything

I wasn't meaning any disrespect at all I meant they (konami) have promised patches among other things before and it never happened ... so please excuse me for being sceptical because of this

I'd be overjoyed if I could enjoy my HD collection, but even though I picked up the Australian release, its been almost a month without a word, so I'm not going to hold out for this.

Do we know when that automated response was written, though? (i.e., before or after the patch they already released).

I would pay any amount of money for a fanbase that wasn't choking on its own cynicism.

That's not an automated response.

EDIT: This post is mad that people refuse to believe/credit good news--not that it's the fan's fault (lolwhat). I explain this all later.

There is, Konami have announced patches for SHHD and Downpour.

I'm sorry to be brash, but I wouldn't have paid any amount of money for the level-of-quality this HD collection shipped out in.

All that needed to be done with this remastering was to match or exceed the quality of the originals. We got neither. And with many quality remasters out there already, you'd expect the same here, especially considering these are two of your flagship titles. Again, at the very least, match the baseline set ten years ago.

With Konami being highly absent on the matter until now, delaying (and then not informing) Book of Memories, plus having the substandard level-of-quality for HDC that we got, you can understand the skepticism of any personalized, sincere response.

PS - I should clarify I know you had little-to-no involvement with this game's development. But I felt the need to speak up for the people here who are voicing heavy concern over any sort of patch/help to fix this title, with all things considered. I think for once in the Silent Hill fanbase, there's legitimate reason for this tone.

I concur with Ratio. I don't normally complain, but from what I've seen of HDC it's gone horribly array. You cannot blame this one on fans. Amazon even told people to throw it in the trash as it was defected after they refunded the angry customer's money. If I worked for Konami I'd admit fault. A patch won't fix this. What it needs is a re-release when it's not in beta. As Ratio stated there is absolutely no reason HDC should be inferior to the classic games from ten years ago.

Please let me stress Tomm that I'm sure you're very, very well aware of all this. I summarized the chief complaints only for those less familiar to get a faint understanding as to why calling us cynicists in regards to this topic was not well justified.

I'd say his involvement wether he developed the game or not, was still important, SPECIALLY since his relationship with the fans is so "close".
You'd think he'd pay attention to these titles being developed considering they're fan favorites and overall just gaming classics.

I think a lot of why the community is so cynical is Konami's (perceived) attitude towards the series. It seems to me as though Konami does not care about Silent Hill anymore. That's just what it looks like when a company doesn't take the time to finish or test a game extensively before releasing it. That's what it looks like when a company tries to rush 3 products to shelves before they are finished to meet some crazy deadline that was put in place just to cash in. It looks like Konami sees Silent Hill not as a cherished series with a rich history and colorful characters, but as another quick cash in title that can be rushed to market. Tomm, Silent Hill is a beloved series that has a rabid following, and though I am rather new to this particular forum, I have been a fan since the beginning, but ever since Homecoming, I have felt less and less like Konami cares about the series or the community. I am not angry at Konami, I am sad that they seemingly have abandoned us. I know that none of this should be on your shoulders, but it's hard to stay positive when you feel like the company that created your favorite franchise is slowly killing it.

For both PS3 and Xbox360? Or only PS3 like the last patch? I'm wondering this because i'm hesitant on returning my copy.

If he was barely or not involved with it, he'd have no say over its development. That's all on Konami and Hijinx, not him, no matter how close he is to the original games. He can speak for himself, but I want to say he probably had his hands full with pushing Downpour out the door and continuing along with Book of Memories.
