Better tactics for extra hard mode (SPOILERS!)

Post by gustavopi on Sat Apr 14, 2012 9:50 am

In extra hard mode, we have to change the style in fights, basically more quickly / precise movements and exploring the defense capability of Heather. This is obvious, but after meet Harry, the fight in the roof got another kind of trouble. I think this was already mentioned here but couldn't find the post.

Heater is with the gun in hand and the obvious action is avoid the monster (what he's name?) and shot him in the back or the side so he cannot use the blades to block the bullets. But in extra hard mode he is fast, so we got to move fast and the camera is to slow for us. Sometimes I can't se him, and nor even Heater! It's still possible the defeat him with a kind of imagination, but with a lot of injury and it's annoying.

I decide to kill him with the Katana! The big advantage is that I can keep the camera behind her and see him. It's also an effective weapon with good resources. The bulletproof cloth is useless, just slow down Heater. I face him ahed and sometimes I let him strike first to counterstrike him hard. It's also effective nailing him ahead, but got to surrender him with one step ahed, if not, he avoid and get Heater hard in stomach with a "side strike". The worst thing is let him chase Heater behind, now it's better run near the walls to put him in the front again.

It's a cool duel for sure! The best fight I ever say in SH series. What's your special tactics?

I have a super special super tactic for killing Mannequins and Lying Figures in SH2. Circle them while smacking them upside the head with the plank.
I love the Silent Hill Series. The new games did nothing wrong whatsoever, they were developed well, and did things different. I believe that Silent Hill Downpour will make all Silent Hill fans happy. Team Silent doesn't exist, but their series does.

That's like what I do with Maria and the cleaver while walking down dark hallways since I can't see what is lurking in front of me.

The Missionary? Just keep an eye out for him, dodge his attacks when he comes towards you, and nail him with the shotgun.

That's the conventional way to do it. It is possible, but in this mode I doubt you'll dodge more than 50% of his attacks, plus you wouldn't see it because the camera doesn't turn around quickly enough.

That's the plank guy talking! SH2 is easier, but the only problem is a massive attack, than circle them can be a problem. I make redraw and forward movements trying to keep them in line.

In SH3 is a good tactic keep nurses in line when there is one with a gun. Wtf there is armed nurses in this hospital?!?

The mugger strategy doesn't seem to work well on Hard. They attack much faster on Hard.

I try redraw and attack when he decided to move. Sometimes I just avoid, but we have to save some ammo and clear the place, fighting is inevitable.

It's not exactly hard to keep track of him considering he sticks out like a soar thumb being a running figure on the roof with nobody else around. Dodging him can be tricky sometimes as he mixes up his routine a bit. But I've managed to beat him on Hard and one of the Extreme difficulty modes with no damage with the shotgun. Takes a bit of practice and patience though. Still, taking him out with the shotgun is the easy way to go about it. There's not an extranordinary amount of skill involved.

The fight with Memory of Alessa is a tad trickier. Not so much for not knowing what to do but because you have to be precise with your actions.

Well, should work since a shotgun keep the enemy away, but not for me. Maybe I'm to worry in see it instead of just track him. I am more accustomed to see the enemy in the front with the camera behind me. But I already changing this since in the Hospital sometimes is impossible to keep this way.

I'm already thinking about Memory of Alessa...

Even on Hard the Missionary is a little bitch. If he gets close, time your parry and then blow his beans away with the shotgun. Hit him again with it until he gets up. If you time it correctly, you can parry him the moment he tries to get up and knock him down again, effectively putting him in an inescapable combo.
