Why do some people think...

...that taking the SH series back to Japan will make it amazing again. If you give it to most of the people who worked on the earlier games, maybe it will be, but just maybe. Giving it to some random japanese team won't mean that we'll have an amazing SH game.

People who work on a game must know their stuff. We can have next "Team Silent" in Europe, America etc., not just in Japan. It's not like everything made by japanese people is always good. They can make awful stuff too.

True, but its more rare to find here in America, not really sure about the UK, but Climax is from the UK, correct? I enjoyed Origins and SM, both developed by them, and they were not japanese. I don't believe handing it over to any japanese developer is a good idea, but we hand SH over to any random developer not from japan now, so why not at least give it a try and see what we get?

Well, I never trust reviews, so thats out of the question. Many games with low scores, have become some of my favorite games of all time. I have seen gameplay of it, and I hate games like this, not only that, but the whole multiplayer aspect being in a SH game makes me cringe -.- Not my type of game.

Even if it werent a SH game, I wouldnt pick it up, but of course, others like you, like games like that, so, each to their own I suppose.

Well, of course, thats because every Dev team, just like a game franchise or movie franchise, has fans. Some fans are exclusive to TS, and like only their games, and their allowed to, of course. For example, I hate American remakes of Japanese films, why? Not because I think Americans suck at making movies, but because the Japanese do them so well, and then Americans take that, and dumb it down. Therefore, for example, lets take Godzilla.

Godzilla to me, is such a silly movie, that was, until I saw Gojira(the original japanese godzilla)and realized just how seriously scary and emotional the movie really was, until the Americans took it and remade it into some big monster who went around, and eventually started battling other monsters(king kong vs godzilla? seriously? and what was the other one...with godzillas child!?)SH is the same way. SH 1-4 is Gojira, while Homecoming was Godzilla, an american take on it, and personally, I thought it was horrible. But, this is a franchise, so of course when a new dev takes over, and makes a new addition to the franchise, hard criticism should be expected from the hardcore fans, specially when trying to live up to TS's masterpieces.

Also, yes, those exclusive to TS's SH will miss out on future SH's that were actually good, like SM. But, their fans, and each fan to themselves, each have the right to their own opinion.

Tomm himself described Book of Memories as 'Persona + Silent Hill' in a recent conversation on Facebook (which I can retrieve if anyone wants to see it, I guess).
So, oddly enough, a Silent Hill title with RPG elements would indeed be Book of Memories.

Actually it was the japanese who made the movies where Godzilla fights other monsters, has a child etc.

People like the animated series a lot more, which is set after the events of the movie. In it Godzilla has the atomic breath and fights other monsters, it's more true to the japanese Godzilla, that's why people like it.

Many Japanese devs keep talking about how basically most Japanese games suck balls nowadays and how unimaginative everyone is. They think Japan (who was once dominant in the industry) has fallen behind now. I don't see how giving it to some random Japanese team will do any good.

And yeah, every fan has the right to their opinion, that's obvious, but if they're gonna be loyal to some dev team who doesn't know them and care about them at all, then it's their loss when some badass new game comes out and they're too busy worshiping their shrine in their basement to notice.
