I got the HD collection and am currently playing through silent hill 2 .... its still has a lot of the eeriness of the original the sounds are beautiful so far so good. If you have any questions I'll try my best to answer them.

Besides the carpark in the beginning, how are the textures and the brightness? I've noticed that SH3 is brighter and cleaner, especially in the Amusement Park Nightmare.

Its just as dark and foreboding as the original I've made it to the blue creek apt. and the textures are beautiful but stay very true to the original. about 3 ... idk I'm speed running 2 for now but if I get some questions about 3 I'll check it out ... the brightness was just jacked up really high in those screen shots and videos its nowhere near that bright... the only thing I can complain about so far is the lack the screen static on/off switch

Are the Noise Effect options gone, or just off in all the videos I've seen so far?

Silent hill 2 = gone Silent hill 3 = available from start btw I just started playing 3 (also not as bad/bright as the trailers make it look) and I just notice a guard button ... and is Sh2 as well ... I'm pretty sure that blocking wasn't in the originals.... ummm ok?

Bought it at midnight release and had a great time chatting up old friends I haven't seen in forever. I only saw one other person buy the HD Collection. Everyone else was there for RE.

I didn't see any friends ... as a matter of fact I just got fired from my job... then decided to go by and pick it up along with downpour

It was, just not widely used at all.

Man, so excited for this. It's not out yet in the UK. Completely 2 & 3 so many times, but I know it's going to be awesome again. Was hovering over the ‘Buy’ button on Silent Hill last night on PSN but decided against it – I think I'll grab them all at once.

As an aside, pre-ordered Downpour last night too. Having a bit of a Silent Hill fest.

Don't wanna be negative but graphically it seems like a downgrade. I took some screens from a HD collection walkhtrough for SH 2.

Some stuff is missing as you can see on the second screen. The HD collection SH 2 is so grey, what happened to the color? As you can see in the last screen comparison the fog is weird. You could see that there's no water in the lake in the original. HD collection makes it more clear though...maybe too much clear, you can also see where the ropes and the ground end. The fog looks better when the cutscene ends from what I saw of the video though.

The game looks great in the HD Collection except for the fog and the flashlight. You can see the individual squares of fog textures floating, and the flashlight gives off another floating square texture. It looks weird, and I didn't really notice it much in the original. Maybe it's just because it was always running at a lower resolution and the colors were a lot different.

yea I noticed that to about the lake ....I also noticed some weird looping sound near the basement of the alternate brookhaven ... and a lot of other noises that are not in the original

Mine hasn't come yet - I'm expecting it this evening. The colors do look a lot more gray and muted from the look of those screenshots, but I'm a fan of muted colors, so.. I kind of like it. I'm not sure how necessary it was to tamper with the colors so much while buffing the graphics, though.

I agree that the textures look beautiful.

I'm especially excited to hear all the voices, especially when James says my favorite line of all: "This town is full of monsters! How can you sit there and EAT PIZZA?"

Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as Mary is giving me cold chills... I love it... <3

And I love James' new voice as well.

They a using a simpler lighting model, which hurts not just the color saturation but also the contrast. The same can be seen in the SH3 comparison images I posted over here.

Mine just arrived; little concerned with SH3. Some vids seem to show that they did alter the game a bit - rust removed, fog removed, it was 'cleaned up' a bit too much...

OMG, they did change SH2. Phead is no longer holding his giant knife, now he's holding a purple balloon? WTF?
