I haven't seen the movie in full, but from what I was picking up between his manic raving, here's what I picked up on:
--Investigator exploring dream-like worlds
--Dolls
--Serial killer
--Dream world death = real death
--Different realities
--Troubled past
--Child self running around as a representation of innocence
I'm drawing some similarities here. Anyone else?

I could definitely see how someone would make the comparison between the Cell and SH4. The breakdown is very accurate.

Event Horizon probably inspired that spinning spike thing at the end of the game that kills Eileen if you don't kill Walter in time.

"The Cell"
The Cell had to have been a huge inspiration. The idea of inducing sleep to venture into the mind of a killer and being able to witness glimpses of his past in order to stop his plan from becoming a success is very much represented in SH4. The torture scenes and the aspects of possession and reanimation are even represented. A Nightmare on Elm Street (a serial killer haunting you in your sleep; if you die in sleep, you die irl; he can be survived; things in the otherworld/dreamworld manifesting in reality; etc.) is another film that most likely played a large role.
