Hidden Japanese word in Alternate Brookhaven Hospital room

I found a hidden Japanese word in one of the alternate Brookhaven Hospital room using the Viewer program, the weird thing is that the word is from outside of the room, i have no idea waht it means:

I love stuff like this. You're not even meant to see it, and yet it's there, hidden away in the game's content. And, people are still finding new things to this day!

Maybe "south" has to do with the location of the room in the hospital?

South?? so maybe that must be a reference for the level designer to know where to put the texture, maybe i don´t know..

.... interesting thing!!! i don't know ..but i felt scared when i saw this!! what does it mean exactly?! ..south!!? is the clock have to do something with it!?O_O

It's Chinese. 南, Pronunced as "nan", means "south". Could be Japanese Kanji since it's essentially just slightly modified Chinese.
Probably some note left by the developers but forgot to remove it during modeling.

It was probably just a marker left so that they'd know where to place it according to the map. It's sort of like that test texture in SH1 used on the scrapped town map display.

I saw a symbol like this but much more simple in SH3. I didn't take a shot, since was my first time playing this game, hope to see it again. These game has a lot of cool things like this - make the experience more rich.
