does anyone know if the symbols on the flauros mean anything

Post by Raydoggamemusic on Sat Jan 28, 2012 11:11 am

i wasn't sure whether to place this in Origins or silent hill 1 so i posted it in general

my question is if the markings on the flauros have any significance to anything or if they're just there to be there, hopefully someone can help me

not really an important question just a curious one y'know

They probably do, but that's out of my realm of knowledge. Perhaps Xuch can help you more here.

Yes, I've been meaning to get to this topic. The triangles within triangles comes from a method spelled out to make Flauros tell the truth from a book called the Goetia. Usually Flauros is summoned to bring knowledge of past, present, and future. But won't tell the truth unless trapped in there. He's also a demon who is considered to be unexorcisable, that being an exorcist won't work. In Silent Hill his functions are a bit different when they use him, but I don't see why he couldn't be used for other functions.

The symbols, one of them is the archangel Samael's. But I'd need pics again to identify the rest.

The symbols only have meaning to the specific game in that they are a puzzle. They are stylized to have the look and feel of occult references, but are not symbols used in practiced religions.
As for the symbol of Samael, I have my skepticism. Samael's symbol has been said to appear across the Silent Hill series and each incarnation is vastly different from the last. The circular symbol seen frequently in Silent Hill 1 during the latter half of the game is specifically explained by the game as the mark of Samael which does not resemble any symbol on the Flauros.
