Anyone else have an incredible amount of trouble with this? I've been playing games for almost 25 years and the fight scene with two, and then an additional three monsters chasing you gave me worlds of grief. It's the enemies with heads that look like an axe. Finally I just decided it's one of those rare times where you just cut and run. I absolutely hate to cut and run! (probably why I got the unlimited machine gun on first try beating SH3 :) Seems like if you just use the shotgun it's an easy exit, although I was wanting to save my ammo - which experience has trained me to do. I don't know - it just seemed like an unreasonably hard fight in an otherwise decent game... :?

On my first play through I had a lot of trouble but after that it was fairly easy thanks to the laser gun. The only advice I have is to preserve your ammo and try to time your dodge and attack perfectly. If you just keep on at it you'll get it eventually.

Watch how Wheeler kills them. He one-shots them. Be more like Wheeler.

I hated the police station level...that little section with the schizms was annoying...even if you tried to conserve ammo and melee them, you're still going to take on damage...you can actually get through it damage free, but often i've used a combo of using the shotgun and trying to kill them using the ax or pipe with the pattern attacks that they use...even then i still end up taking some damage.

Which isn't bad, it's just that when you do take on damage, half of your life bar is depleted...add to the fact that the schizms were very cheap in that particular part of the game...
Knowledge, Wisdom and Understanding....these are the basic fundamentals of life....

If you can't amaze them with brilliance, baffle them with bulls**t...

This is the only place I've died on the game. It's still pretty easy, if you have lots of Ammunition.
I love the Silent Hill Series. The new games did nothing wrong whatsoever, they were developed well, and did things different. I believe that Silent Hill Downpour will make all Silent Hill fans happy. Team Silent doesn't exist, but their series does.

I friggin hate that part. They beat my monkey ass every time.

Surprisingly, that part of the game didn't bring me any trouble on my first playthrough. The Schisms are very easy to beat once you learn how to deal with them. You wait until they do this particular lunge attack that involves moving forward and flailing their arms at you. You immediately whack them with a strong weapon (preferably the Axe) limiting it to one or two hits, dodge away from them to avoid getting hit, and wait for them to repeat that particular attack again. Repeat the pattern and you should be able to dispose of them with minimal or no damage. Then I just used the shotgun to deal with the Siam.

I eventually found out that it's fairly easy to get them stuck in a loop with the Crowbar/pipe.

This part really shredded my nerves. I barely even remember getting past it, I think I eventually resorted to using all my shotgun ammo (which I don' recommend since it makes the Siam fight directly afterwards extremely difficult).

That part was solid. I remember running down the corridor with a tiny bit of health left, and hitting a dead end. So I ran back (toward the monsters) and just noticed a little gap in the wall. I frantically pushed buttons to try to get through it and I just made it through before they hit me.

I think the largest problem with it is the location you choose to fight them. You just have to make sure they can't attack you from multiple sides and with a little bit of luck you should do alright. But I have to admit it can be quite frustrating and I tend to just take the health drinks and run for it, then only kill the ones in the last room that has the boarded up door and in the garage...cause you do sort of wanna save the shotgun ammo...

I got cut in half about two times, then I was like SHOTGUN ALL THE WAY BABY! I didn't even think of getting in the boarded room with the two Schisms inside. I just luckily discovered that I could lure and hit them with the crowbar through the "hole" in the wall and got rid of them like that. Then I blasted at the Siam 2-3 times (with pistol?) and made a couple of hits at its female side and then again I was like "KTHXBYE, I'm jumping in the sewers with the chick". ;)

(It is one of the worst parts and the sewers suck too)

Note: The music in the police station is my favorite in the whole game.

It was very difficult the first couple of times! Realizing I didn't have enough ammo for all the Schisms there, I had to sort of plan out how to save them for each one; got quite troublesome. But then I got the laser pistol and all went well afterwards! XD Once you get that, it won't be too hard at all!

I had so much difficulty getting past this area... I got so frustrated at it, I wasted a "life" looking around to see if there was anything interesting (just a health drink I think) and died. On my next "life" I just ran past them all and made a run for it, figuring that health drink will negate whatever damage I took. Surprisingly, that seems to be the best option.
