Batman, Spider-Man, and Deadpool should all have a fight to decide which of them is the Internet's favorite superhero.

For Christmas this year, I'm getting two things... One is a special edition of Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, which comes with a gun wiimote holder thingy and a nunchuck that looks like a knife. The other is Shattered Memories.
Regarding going the RE or Left4Dead route, I hope it never happens. I do think it would be kind of neat at least once to have a first person perspective Silent Hill game, but for now, I hope they stick with their formula of not having a defined formula outside of "Person goes to/is near Silent Hill. Weird and scary stuff happens."

Still, asking for an "epic game" is kind of silly. What's epic to you? What would be a great and rich story in your opinion? Personally, I think a Silent Hill game set in the Dust Bowl would be incredibly interesting... Even if it didn't take place in New England or even anywhere in the east coast.

But anyways, back on topic. I'd love to see them remake this game entirely, not just resubmit it in HD. And if they did have to re-release it in HD, I hope it would be a DLC game instead of making a big deal of it like they have with the HD Collection.

Asking for a game that doesn't suck is silly? I guess I'm just too cynical when it comes to gaming nowadays, because I feel like most devs aren't even trying anymore. This generation has been really disappointing, especially when it comes to console games, but that's just me. I dunno what new settings or gimmicks they could use, but I'd enjoy a story that has me actually pining to replay the hell out of the game, as well as great gameplay incentive (not like SH2 where there were like two weapons to unlock and that was it), so the game doesn't just stay on my shelf forever.

I've probably watched Cure (1997) a gazillion times already, and I only picked that up sometime earlier this year. I want a SH game that's like that. A game so good and mesmerizing that I go back and play it over and over again, always picking up new clues and shit. But hey, like I noted before, this is the SH fanbase and everyone likes a combination of different things, so a game that pleases everyone is virtually impossible. I'd like something that comes fairly close, though.

At risk of putting words in JanetheNurse's mouth, I'm going to assume she means that it's silly to want a game which acts as a final,, crashing fanfare for the series, a victory lap which ties up all loose ends. And, I agree. Part of the mythos of Silent Hill is that whatever mystical, magical shit is going on is not something that can be brought to an end or set to rights. It's something natural and pervasive, which has been documented to some extent for centuries and should exist as long as there are human minds to fuel it. You had native Americans using it as a holy place, then you had kreepy cultists hit up the divine buffet table, invent a pantheon of gods and create a dogma which samples every religion they could find on Wikipedia, and all the while you have this intrinsic relationship between this power, whatever it is, and the most unique of all natural creations: the human mind. Which, in some ways, is scarier than the power itself., because the Silent Hill Power is merely a vehicle. It's the human mind, with its many unsolved mysteries poorly-understood mechanisms, and capacity for darkness, which really fuel the nightmare imagery we see.

It's the setup for a series which, in the right hands, could produce virtually endless numbers of very different stories to tell, and any attempt to write "the end" would necessarily come across as forced and artificial.
The above post is intended to be factual, unless it isn't.

Yeah but I'm not asking for everything to be "wrapped up". I just want a final game that's actually good. It's gonna have to end one day, it's not gonna last as long as Final Fantasy or anything. Just wrapping everything up and explaining it doesn't mean the story would be good or anything, by no means did I request that.

For Christmas I asked for the new Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012. I have...funny ideas. Also, I wanted a game that isn't like anything else I have. Also gun controller.

I WAAAAS going to get Downpour for Christmas. BTW, my birthday is the 31st. Who wants to give me a B-Day hug and a sexy cupcake?
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. [laughs] Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like [coughs] tears in rain. Time to die."
