Internet petitions do work sometimes. Not all the time, but that's mainly because most petitions I've seen only get like a few hundred signatures, obviously the devs/publishers won't give a fuck if such a small amount of people make an effort like that. I remember back before Homecoming came out, a lot of people (including me) liked the old design of Alex and weren't pleased much when they updated his model to look like ballsack. For reference the older model looks pretty much the same as the final one does. People complained and they changed it. That's a small example, but yeah.

Also most of the time petitions don't work is because they're requesting things that either aren't possible or are just foolish to begin with. I've seen many cases where a petition would've been successful, only for the devs to tell them that they'd love to take the feedback but it's just too late in the dev cycle to do anything, or due to licensing issues/company issues they just can't do it, etc. etc.

But on SH4 HD, it's already obvious this collection will still sell well enough to produce at least another attempt. The original SH2 voices (most of them anyway) will be in, and most current fans only care about SH2 anyway, so they'll buy it. Tons of new fans and people who never got a chance to place these titles will buy it. It's a no-brainer to Konami to do a follow-up collection.

I know I can personally get a few dozen people to sign off on this.

Tomm Hulett was merely stating a fact. Internet petitions are silly little things that give people the illusion that their opinions matter.

I don't think that we're silly for trying. I guess it is better than wait for things with our arms crossed because the result might be negative for us, without even trying. Of course that this SH4 petition might not work at all, but at least we'll try to make it work and hope for the best, so why don't take that chance?

@Crowbar: Thanks bro lol

But yeah, it's better that we try to get heard than just sit here and do nothing. Konami is known for taking fan feedback (hell, they do surveys all the time). I recall the various versions of MGO being influenced almost 100% by what the communities requested and discussed. Not too long ago they even asked fans in a podcast for MGS HD Collection whether or not they should bother with the 'Super Widescreen' option for cutscenes or just make it fullscreen (4:3 or 16:9), and in the end they just made it an option since people said they should keep it in. There's a bunch of other examples, but Konami does listen.

The main thing that will influence SH4 getting the HD treatment is how well the HD Collection sells. If it does good enough then maybe it will happen. But I wouldn't be surprised if the heads at Konami feel that it's not worth the time especially considering all the controversy that's erupted because of the HD Collection.

If nothing else, it's a good way to spread the word about the HD collection. Free publicity is always useful.

They should have included it. There is a fan base for the game, and it was part of the Team Silent SH games for PS2. To have 2 and 3 yet undermine the other cause it's not as popular or worth the effort kind of undermines that game in the series and its fans.

Peace Walker was not the most popular or best selling of the Metal Gear Solid games, but it was done in HD alongside MGS2 and MGS3.

I to am under the belief that these internet petitions are practically useless. While I would love SH4 to be apart of the HD collection the fact is, it isn't. It just something we have to get over. I can understand why it isn't apart of the collection as it isn't really liked of the SH games, where as SH2 and SH3 are the most liked instalments of the series.

i don't see the point of making an hd adaption for the room, it already has decent graphics and freeman's right it wasn't very popular when it was sold... i mean i enjoyed it but it took to long to beat

When I found out they weren't including it I was SO disappointed.

I don't understand why so many people disliked The Room – I loved it. It was different to the 1 – 3, but creepy as hell.

It is a bit of a let down to say the least, but I guess that since it is one of the most controversial games in the entire series Konami didn't even want to bother. I would have liked to see all of the PS2 Silent Hill games together in one package. I think that The Room would have benefitted from a HD transfer since it is still a pretty impressive game visually. I noticed playing through it the other day that it is the brightest and least obscured game in the entire series. It really allows for the visuals and designs to shine through very well.

They gotta save something for SH HD Collection # 2. Hell, God of War games re-released 2 at a time max, so asking for 3 games in one $40 set is just plain greedy, imo.

If and when they do Collection 2, I'd like The Room, and Shattered Memories - while I don't love the latter, I was intrique with what they attempted with it. Just needed way more bad guy variety, something modern SH titles are starting to struggle with. Just cause SH 2 had 5 or so monsters doesn't mean you should only do 5 at a time. One thing I did love with Homecoming was the sheer amt of cool monsters and MULTIPLE Boss fights.

I wouldn't say internet petitions are entirely useless. Following the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 3DS, the developers directly stated that, if given enough fan support, they might consider remaking Majora's Mask for the new console as well. A few weeks later, and you've got Operation Moonfall, "an ongoing effort to show Nintendo that there is a demand for Majora's Mask to receive the same treatment Ocarina of Time did when being redesigned." The movement has an entire website devoted to its cause, as well as an online petition and various webpages with tens of thousands of signatures and followers. To the extent of my knowledge, the sheer magnitude and outpouring of support that has been generated for this movement in recent times has definently caught Nintnendo's eye.

I would definitely pick It up without question/hesitation. Which in a way is funny. The first time I played SH 4 I didn't find myself really becoming enveloped into It, maybe It just felt sluggish/constricted at the time, and I was hoping to continue rummaging through unexplored areas of SH. However, when I played the game years later I found a new appreciation for It, It's hard to keep things fresh in this day and age, especially when the gaming series revolves around one town, but I really got into It. I can honestly say now without any equivocations whatsoever that Silent Hill 4: 'The Room' is now my second favourite game in the series. And finally @TheCrazy, I'll definitely check out your petition, and do whatever I can to help support It!

What a shame...it goes to show how distant SH4 is from the other originals. Its very underrated, but I think it was the best out of the series due to its pretty deep storyline compared to the others. If I could of picked, I would of picked SH4 over 3. But that's just me.

Anyone think they'll ever redo the first one? I know it'd take a lot more work to update the graphics, but MAN id like to see that! I love the original as is, but with updated graphics it would be sick. I guess there's no law against hoping...

I was honestly hoping they would have given the Twin Snakes version of Metal Gear Solid the HD treatment but I was okay with Peace Walker being on the disc since I never played it.
