I could have worded it better by saying that cats as a phenomenon originated on the Internet whereas Ponies started as a TV series and took hold over the rampant virginity of the Internet. But the debate on that is for another time.

Right. If they love it, fine; it's their own prerogative. But as soon as someone zealously starts to preach about how wonderful it is and how horrible I am for not liking it, I politely say my peace and shake my head in derision.

I try to ignore it. I can't really understand the fascination with it. I think it's a case of a forced meme, basically, like that stupid "arrow in the knee" bullshit from when Skyrim first came out. Someone tried to explain that the show is revered so much because of the strong implications of friendship and whatnot, but that's nonsense because there's tons of better anime's, movies, tv shows, etc. about that.
