Sequels?

Post by captain crowbar on Tue Nov 01, 2011 2:37 pm

We mentioned this in another thread, but would a sequel of this work if it was based on SH2? It would certainly gain attention and sell like hot-cakes...

But I think they should make a sequel using 4 as a basis. I think the subject matter would fit the bill better, and allow for much more creativity.

Thoughts?

Not really. I'd rather they create a better gameplay formula than the one SM introduced. That and I'd prefer new stories over reimaninings of pre existing ones.

I think it would be tricky to make another game like that again. It wouldn't really be a sequel though.

Henry is Walter's mental Avatar, Henry encounters such interesting characters as Walter's inner child, a girl he was in love with (Eileen) and several people that bullied him. Eventually, you realize that Walter is a shut in, and he finally realizes that his mother and father left him and he needs to move on. He finally leaves the room and encounters Cynthia. The two fall in love and get married.

End game.

So don't buy anymore Silent Hill games. Problem solved.

A sequel from a particular game of the series, thats what I meant. Konami, will have to come with innovations, there´s no need to keep digging in the same hole, which is pretty much what Square-Enix is doing and it´s not working that good anymore for them. Downpour looked nice and Ive some hopes, reason enough for me to buy it.

You don't have to worry about playing through any more Silent Hill games you apparently wouldn't like if you don't buy them. Also, if you want to look at it this way you not buying x Silent Hill game sends a message to the developer that you don't support this title or something.

Pretty simple. If you want to give the games a chance pick them up when you're able. If you just don't care to for whatever reason then don't do it.

Simple dilemmas demand simple solutions.

But I collect Silent Hill games, just like I collect Legacy of Kain, Halo, and Resident Evil.

I just wish they'd show a little more respect to the people that inevitably net them their paychecks.

And at any rate, I'd love to play a game such as the one I described. It would be a much much better story than SHSM's.

Very very tricky, but not impossible.
I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing what they could do with 2, but that's just me. I liked Shattered Memories's style and with a few tweaks it could be even better. Monsters in the fog-world and a wee bit more combat in the Otherworld, maybe.

Although they wouldn't be able to pull the ice-world again now that we know why it was ice.

Thing is:
1. You being a collector has more to do with you. Silent Hill is one of my favorite franchises but I buy these games to play them and have fun. Collecting them isn't a priority of mine which is why I don't go the extra mile in collecting posters, figurines, side stuff like Silent Hill: The Arcade and what not because it's not a priority of mine in addition to feeling like a waste of time and money. To me, the games are the main things that matter.
2. The primary reason why the developers are being put to work is to bring out a Silent Hill game which in turns brings in more money which helps fill the employee's paychecks.

Thing with some Silent Hill fans is some of them love the series so much that they develop this idea of perfection and that anything that leaves a bad taste in their mouths somehow deteriorates from their preconceived notion of the series' overall image.

Some think of the series as having ended at SH3 or 4 as "being perfect". Having wrapped up the series on a high note or something. However, some people view the series still going as being "healthy" since it's still enduring the times (and in SH's case mixed reception from several titles in a row), competition, and still being considered a valuable property if Konami still insists on keeping it going (although admittedly part of this stems from the fact Konami just can't seem to bring out new IPs on the same level as many other companies are doing right now...).

3. None of these games prevent you from going to replaying and enjoying the first few games. And honestly that's really all that matters. No matter what happens down the road for the series we will still have those games regardless.

The only SH game I hated was Origins, but that was mostly because of the story.

I love all the others. But that doesn' t mean I'm not allowed to complain about aspects of them, does it? I mean, I payed for them.
