Even thought I have yet to play Shattered memories. I pretty sure that if I did I would still prefer SH1 Harry. I've always loved Silent Hill because of the characters and SH1 Harry is the one I like the most. It hard to find a Video game character that I can say I care about and Harry's one of them.

2: He has the awesome backwards jump

My thoughts on SH1 Harry can be summed up with:

Oh, I don't think any less of SHSM Harry for running. To be honest, he seems smarter than original Harry for that because running from them is the better survival tactic, and who will find his daughter if he dies?

He doesn't seem quite as persistent or devoted to finding Cheryl as original Harry did, however, because he apparently had time for certain "detours" that original Harry did not (if you have played SHSM, you will know what I mean).

I like how the original was kinda naive but determined. SM Harry was not really a stable figure to be able to connect to but still I sympathised with him at some moments. Hm, I'd say SH1 for emotional reasons. (Plus, you can shed some blood )

1. Harry Mason is real in the series with blood and he is the original

2. Harry Mason from SM is an illusion with blood and he is the copy

3. Both of them are different Harry Mason's but each of them retains a similar thread that binds them both to the essence of Harry Mason, the one.

4. SM Harry fades away and dies . . . at the end of the SM game . . .

5. SM Harry's actions and personality are all decided by Heather, depending on how she thought of him. Harry Mason can be whoever he wants to be, because he was the original, the most physical, and the actual adoptive father of Heather/Cheryl.

6. SH1 Harry is dead, too.

7. SH1 Harry is more of a bad ass the fights demons, gods, and nightmares. SH:SM Harry runs away from the nightmares and can't fight that well. However, he does finally reach Heather, only to realize he is just made up of memories, and then he fades away.

=In the end, all it comes down to is personal opinion, because both of them are now different people. However, SH1 Harry has a more concrete and powerful soul, thus, I like SH1 Harry better. Especially for necromancy, SH1 Harry would be a powerful zombie/wraith. As well, Harry has great character and fights head on, while still choosing his battles and running when he has to.
