That's why it's called REIMAGINING.

captain crowbar wrote:Look, this is irrelevant. I clearly stated in my OP that there was no reason to even consider having a convo about this. I swear, some of you just can't stop breaking a sweat when someone doesn't think exactly as you do.

Learn to acknowledge other points of view.

I can acknowledge other points of view, but I can also point out when I think what someone writes is wrong. It seems that you can't acknowledge that.

1. That's not a reimagining, that's a whole new game with little to no similarities. Once again, you're not going to convince me otherwise so just let it go.

2. I acknowledge when people are wrong all the time. I don't make a habit of insulting their opinions though. It's pretty juvenile.

1. I think the developers knew what they were doing when they called it reimagining.

2. I wasn't insulting your opinion.

It's not 'insulting your opinion' if you're just plain wrong. Also, Donkey Kong Country Returns is a sequel, not a reimagining. But nonetheless, this is indeed not the point of the thread.

Which ending did you get the first time through?

1. actually, DKCR is a reimagining of the first DKC. The devs just didn't market it as such. It has the exact same beginning as DKC, with similar gameplay aspects, but takes IT IN A WHOLE NEW DIRECTION.

And Hunter. Telling someone they're wrong when at the top of the OP they have put the words "my opinion", told people that a particular statement is your opinion, and then both backed up that statement and given positive feedback about why that statement is not meant to be negative, but rather better for the game? That's insulting someone's opinion. It's like a Catholic Priest walking into the middle of a Rabbi's sermon and telling him "You're wrong." It's just plain rude for starters. But I'm cool, I'm not mad, I'm just mildly disappointed in you.

2. I got the "best" ending. Harry was a good man, but he and Dhalia seperated. At least, that was my understanding of it. The ending videos are way too short. I'm working on the other 3 now, about to get the sex addict one, then going for drunken monkey. I need to look up how to get the UFO ending.

I just said that you're wrong about "reimagining" stuff, that has nothing to do with opinion, that's a fact and you were wrong about it.

I clearly said that IMO, it's not a reimagining.

They simply used that word as a marketing tool to help sell the game. The only reason people think it's a reimagining is because your buddy Tomm Hulett wouldn't let us fall asleep without whispering it in our ears.

The fact is, if the name of the town was changed, people wouldn't even have known it had anything to do with Silent Hill.

If it wanted to be a reimagining, then the characters would have had to be the same basic characters, with a whole new story based around them. What they did was create a completely unique game and then screwed it up by forcing Silent Hill easter eggs into it. It would have been infinitely better without them.

Look, the problem is that you believe what they told you and are unable to question their statements.

I disagree with their statements. The only reason they kept calling it a reimagining is because they wanted to sell the game. Anyone that has played it realizes that it's not like the first Silent Hill in any way, beyond Harry looking for Cheryl. That's not enough to call it a reimagining.

That's the whole point, IT'S NOTHING LIKE THE FIRST GAME BECAUSE IT'S A REIMAGINING.

Like I wrote before, the developers knew what they were doing while they were making the game.

If it's nothing like the material that is being reimagined, then how is it a reimagining?

What, I'm going to make a movie about the Ninja Turtles, but this time they're really old cats and they aren't ninjas, they're fast food workers. But they have a similar origin.

But I still call it the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I just reimagined the Ninja Turtles by your logic.

And yeah, they knew exactly what they were doing. They were pulling the wool over a lot of people's eyes in order to sell a game easier.

If you don't trust the developers then why are you even playing the games?

1. That's not what a reimagining is. A reimagining is a new take on a previously created concept. It's not a reimagining, it's an entirely different game that has some Silent Hill references to allow them to make it a game in the franchise, thus automatically boosting sells since many people will buy the game just for it's name.

2. You don't have to like the developers to like the game. You don't have to like the games to like the developers.

I'm a Silent Hill fan. I want to own the entire series. That doesn't mean I have to just ooze love and appreciation for every aspect of every game. That also doesn't mean I have to think the developers can do no wrong.

People need to learn to think for themselves more. Jeez, it's like you guys expect Silent Hill fans to be a Hive Mind.

And I clearly laid out the good aspects AND the bad aspects in my OP. Just because I disagree with the devs that it's a true reimagining means that I hate the game? Did I say that at any point ever?

^^

Obviously, I must hate the game if I disagree with some aspect of it, or with the asshats (IMO) that developed it. Why would you play something you hate?

ITT I gave a perfectly honest, candid review. I looked at it from a non-silent hill fan point of view.

It's obvious that you didn't read it, thus further proving that you're a durpadurp. I never really thought you were very intelligent to begin with, so this doesn't surprise me. I at least had a little faith in most of the other HD guys. They didn't all seem to be paid off by Tomm Hulett like you made yourself out to be.

Fanservice in games is the first step to making a crap game.

And I'm indeed a Silent Hill fan, because I know how to weigh out both good and bad. I'm not a blind fanboy with no free will.

And yes, it's you implying that I'm some sort of red-eyed, sweat covered, raging fanboy. In reality, I'm just a normal guy that's been there since day one and loves the series.

Calm down? I'm not even paying attention anymore. I'm doing like 3 other things right now. And anyway, that's what you two have been doing the whole time. Twoback shows up, insults someone, and says goodbye. It's his MO.

At least I'm honest and straight forward.
