I still don't like the fact that they shoehorned PH into the first film just because of his popularity, but seeing as how fucked up the first movie's plot was compared to the actual first game, I don't care anymore (stopped caring a long time ago actually). Him being brought back and replacing Valtiel is pretty stupid, but understandable since this is the "film's canon". Valtiel was worshiped by the cult as being close to a the God, so he's definitely important. If they leave him out completely, I will be disappoint.

I don't think it's real, after looking at the picture again. If it's supposed to be from actual footage then it's been tampered with to make the colors more vibrant, something they most likely wouldn't have done yet when this picture showed up. Plus there's the fact that you can actually see his legs, which wasn't how the PH costume was. And the hood looks soft to me. Of course I could be wrong, but those are the things that just really made the picture seem off to me.

Hopefully it's not PH. The only reason I can think of for them to include him in the second film is because he was in the first which made him even more familiar. He might have become the symbol of Silent Hill for the people that don't play the games. And possibly for some that do.

If they do this, it's both a mix of severing the movie continuity more and more from the original AND complete, utter fanservice.

On the other hand... I don't think they could use the title "angel" in reference to Valtiel in a movie like this. Especially after removing the whole "cult" thing.

Calling a faceless, twitching, ugly, only somewhat human-like monster an "angel" would cause an uproar among those not familiar with the games.

Ladies and gentlemen, it would appear that PH is indeed going to be in this film.

I haven't been keeping up with the news recently and I didn't see a post about it, so I figured I'd put it up anyway.

This isn't complete and utter fanservice, guys. If it were, they would've left the backside open on that kilt. :3

I'm just hoping that since Claudia and Leonard are in this movie that this means The Order will make their appearance? Or will this mean they will be incorporated with the new cult like they did with Dahlia....?

If they're not, then I can see why they didnt put Valtiel in this since he's part of The Order and they havent made an appearance yet, but if they are...

*sigh* I really can't stand it when things from the games are placed in the movies just for the sake of being there; one of the many reasons why I despised RE: Afterlife. And considering the fact that the monsters in Silent Hill are there for very deep reasons, shoehorning them in only makes it worse. It sells, but at what cost?

I for one welcome our triangle-headed overlord.

Seriously though. Tough crowd. Make an amazing video game-based movie (loosely based, but still) yet people still get upset.

I'm not thrilled about him being in the movie, but I guess if he takes a legitimate role in the story like in 2 and Homecoming, yeah.

It was. PH is manifestation of the characters guilt. An executioner of sorts.

PH was manifested from Alex's guilt on killing his brother, Josh. and served as an execitioner when he killed Adam because of all the hatred he had for Adam.

Well you have to put into consideration that it's a complete different game team who worked on Homecoming than the older games. Similar to the movie as they might have taken some influence from it, but that doesnt change his role and symbolism. Either way, his role fits and his symbolism didnt change a bit.
