Problem with SIlent Hill Homecoming on PS3

Post by Gen89 on Sun Sep 11, 2011 5:14 pm

hi guys, here's the problem: a few days ago i bought for a friend, who was in my town for holiday, this game. We played a lot on my PS3 and obviously saved the game more than once.
When she went back home, she obviously brought the game with her, but i kept the save files.
A few day later i bought the game for me too, but when i tried to load the game, it said that no save files existed. I obviously controlled to ensure that the save files existed and so it was *and still is*. The only files i can load are those i created after restarting the game with my copy... why does this happen? is there a way to restore the old files? we were not too far from the end of the game and if i can i would like to not re-do all things...

Thanks for any help and sorry for bad english *i'm italian*

The most likely reason is that the save files are corrupted. of course that has several reasons. just get your memory card to your friend and test the files on her copy.

i can't bring the memory card to my friend and try for 2 simple reasons: she lives in another region of italy and... the PS3 system doesn't use memory cards...

PS3 system saves all data (games, video, music, pictures, etc) on the internal hard disk...

internal hard drive? it is possible to copy the files for someone else? like copy the files on a portable device? and if the answer is yes, did you gave your friend a copy of the file? and how?

any way the most likely reason is that the files are corrupted. send the answers to confirm and will tell you why.

the reasons that i can think about are:

1)corruption (bad file copy)
2)different version
3)save data on ps3 might work on one copy only. (like some of the pc games like resident evil 5)

with some games, usually pretty old, it is possible to copy them on a portable device, just pressing on "copy" on it on the PS3, so eith no hacks or strange procedures which could seriously corrupt the data itself or even the system, so i could'nt understand how *and i'm not saying that's not possible, just that i can't understand why* they could have been corrupted *you can easily find save data for a a great amount of ps3 games on the internet, and none of those i tried in past ever gave problems to me*. anyway yes, i gave her a copy of the save data on her portable device, but the originals were and still are on my hard drive. if you could really help me i would really be grateful to you

edit: i don't know if my copy is a different version, anyway, referring to point 3 i could ensure that different copies *don't know about between a special edition and a normal one, i never tried* could use the same game data, because i've done it several times.

oh yes you get a lot of saves from the web and yes many of them work well but consider a games like silent hill 3 on pc, change the file location or copy the folder and it's gone for good!

I don't have a single clue about how ps3 system works, all i can give you is reasons. just play the game from the start. i played home coming exactly 5 times and i'm planing to play it 5 more times!! it's not that bad!!

Just don't back Elle into any corners, don't aim your gun against a door, and don't roll into angled ceilings that meet the floor. :D
