Nice Podcast! This podcast was an improvement over the last. Everyone had some interesting points. Jason had some great arguments.

So far, I do not like Konami's handling of the HD Collection. I thought the tone and timing of the new voice cast from the video did not correctly represent the personalities of the characters from the game. I hope the finished product sounds better after they work on it a little more.

There is a lot of potential of releasing an HD collection of some of the Silent Hill games, but the supposed treatment of Guy Cihi and the previous voice actors coupled with the fact that recasting the voice actors to begin with is excessive and unnecessary. All of these things puts the collection in a bad light.

Arguments like "you will get used to it" and "you still have the originals to play" is avoiding the point all together. I do believe the forums and this podcast have made it pretty clear Konami's intentions revolve around making money, but that does not make Konami's decisions right.

The voice direction in Silent Hill 2, good or bad, was just as much a creative decision as the monsters, game design, music, and sound effects. It should be shown the same respect.

Also, I have to agree with Jason's analysis of the previous podcast. I could not finish listening to the last Podcast because of the childish, condescending tone and hostility from the Silent Hill Experienced group toward fans who disagree with Konami's handling of the Silent Hill franchise. I know there are some aggressive fans on the forums that do not like the direction Silent Hill is going, but that does not grant anyone license to go down that same path. Two wrongs do not make a right. The behavior on the last podcast was really, really sad.

They're right. You still do have the originals to play. Don't like the collection? Don't buy it and stick with your old games. That's all you have to do. There's no sense in getting up in arms about "oh, they're disrespecting people!" and such. Silent Hill has always been about money from the very first game. Video game companies have always been about making money.

This really shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody. Does a lot of Konami's recent ideas suck? Yeah, but what exactly is there to do other than buy or don't buy. There's no incentive in mulling over it.

I talked to Whitney about this:

I don't like the new voices just because they're pissing on my nostalgia factor. However, I can look past that, and hell, maybe even grow to like the new ones better.

The thing for me personally, however, is that if it turns out Konami is skimping out on royalties and due payment to Guy and the other actors then I can't buy or support this product out of principle. I'm very old-school in that I believe everyone should get their dues if they are supposed to have them so if this really is the case, that'll be the only reason why I won't buy and support this product.

It may sound silly to some, but hopefully you can understand why I'd stand up against this title for that reason. Surely it can't be as silly as not buying the game just because it has new voice overs--now that really would be silly.

It'd be nice to get an answer from Konami for my sake. We've heard Guy's side, now it'd be nice to hear Konami's side.

I FINALLY got to listen to all of this after a day of sitting down and listening to bits and pieces of it. I literally laughed out loud when Monkey said "greedo shot first," because I understood exactly what he meant. :D That one argument in the Star Wars fandom sums up the entire SH fan base in my mind. For better and worse. XD

Sorry if this disappoints, but I found myself agreeing with (his name is Jason, right? SE?) quite a lot in this episode.
With things like this (Guy vs. Konami) there's always three stories: what *actually* happened, then what both sides decide to *say* happened. Most people don't ever get the actual story, we just have to take what we're told and try to find the truth somewhere in the middle.
Which is fine, because Americans do that with the government all the time. We should be used to it. <3

I haven't listened to all the SHE podcasts, but I'm glad I didn't miss this one! Everyone was a tad more honest than usual, and you got into the meat & potatoes of your opinions. It was explanations that you didn't really owe us, but were nice enough to give anyway. Thank you!

It looks like things are getting too spicy for the pepper.

@TheRedNurse I hope you enjoy :) Please let me know what think!

@Crazyhorse - Sorry you couldn't get through the last podcast but I'm glad you liked this one! I just want to put out there that with these podcasts I try and stick with how I feel and I'm not a fan of name calling either. We are all fans and it's silly to do that. I welcome dissenting opinions and always encourage others to share there thoughts on our site, facebook twitter etc. I always want to include people with differing opinions to the show just so we try and cover all viewpoints...cause I know not everyone see rainbows and butterflies haha.

@Aegophthalmos Exactly vote with your wallet!

@Ratiocinator- Believe me I'm with you 100% and your reasons for not choosing to support the release makes sense. I said this on the podcast but I will repeat it here if it comes to light that the recast was all about Konami cheating Guy I will be right there with you.

@Wren Yay! Thanks for taking the time to listen and btw? You agreeing with Jason is in no way disappointing so please don't think it is! I hope you will listen to our SHH podcast next week too :)

Cool. Still listening.

I'm still kinda undecided about the voices (except Eddie, I really don't like him. Still, can't say definitively until I've seen whole cutscenes/the whole game, etc.). As for Cihi and all that, I still feel like we are missing some pieces to the puzzle, so I'm not really taking sides.

Also, I have to agree with Jason's analysis of the previous podcast. I could not finish listening to the last Podcast because of the childish, condescending tone and hostility from the Silent Hill Experienced group toward fans who disagree with Konami's handling of the Silent Hill franchise. Yeah, I didn't finish that one either, same reason.

^_^ thanks, it's an old one, actually, and I just found it again and had to change it.

Finishing up listening to this now.

Whitney, you have such a soothing voice. ^_^

And as me and Ratio said in that other topic, the red mouths were always there. The reason you couldn't see them is because the nurses usually had their heads down. The mouths. They were always there. Never removed.

Ito has even talked about the red mouths on the nurses in 2 and 3, he said "the mean mad" or something like that. Has to do with Alessa's anger or something.
