As far as video game movies go, I have never seen a movie that drew more from it's source material than this movie did. Silent Hill is probably the best video game movie ever made...but that is not a hard thing to do.

I LOVED cybil in this movie. I was crushed and cried ( no joke. Im admitting it ) when she pulled out the pipe and told her to find the girl. Then her getting beat like that. Then when they burned her it was worse. NEVER AGAIN.

I was upset when Cybil died too. I loved what they did to the character. She was a tough broad. I love that.

I really enjoyed this materpiece, but after watching it once, I didn't quite understand it. But, artistically, it is a beautiful movie and I enjoyed it. It does game movies justice and the Silent Hill Movie was definitely very Silent Hill-ish. They stuck to their roots. I'm am very pleased.

Did I post here before? Well screw it if I did, I was like 15-17. Anyway, I really did like this movie. It wasn't the best addition to Silent Hill, but you have to admit it's one of, if not the best, video game adaptations that have been made, even including music from the games. The visuals were really stunning. I really love how they created the otherworld transition in a way that was both true to the games and totally original in its own right. The movie gets hated on a lot, but at the end of the day, more people enjoyed it than they're willing to admit.

I think Ebert gave it a bad grade, but noted the visuals as well. I did like the movie, it was not the scores of other game movies! But Mortal Kombat and this are about the only good video game movies. Everything else sucks.

I was working at a now closed Movie Gallery when the movie was released to rent or purchase, I had to explain the movie's plot to a few idiots. Some people are just dense and have to be spoon fed information. The movie was good so long as you view it as a stand alone movie and not part of the video game series.

Loved the visuals. Didn't like the acting though. It's one of the very few good Video game movies, I'll give it that.

As a movie it's tolerable, but as an adaptation of Silent Hill, it's absolutely awful.
I'm just not a fan of unnecessary changes. I get that it's ridiculous to expect everything to be exactly the same, but it's possible to change events without changing the entire story. My least favorite changes were the sexist decision to make Harry into a woman and then the whole "child born out of wedlock- burn it" thing. I actually think that ended up making things more convoluted than necessary. Maybe we wouldn't have needed the screen to go all white and have someone simply explain what happened to Alessa if they didn't make such weird decisions.

That aside, I think the film in general suffers from awkward dialogue and poor pacing. I haven't seen it since 2006 or whenever it came out, but I recall the 'horror' to be severely lacking and it felt like the movie dragged on a lot longer than it actually did. It's definitely not something I would have even bothered with if I weren't a fan of the series.

I thought it was okay. Definitely interesting visually. Some of the dialogue was wonky, but I liked the actors mostly. I didn't really care that it wasn't a faithful adaptation, as that seems boring and pointless to me. All I wanted was something visually compelling with a SH flavor. I definitely got that.

I think that the movie was very good, but some things can be better, and others wasn't necessary.

PH it's the representation of James in the game, yes, but it's the representation of the executors of the cult too. Maybe if some paintings of he had appeared, his place in the movie would have made more sense.

The acting was good, except for Sharon. Dark Alessa was great, but Sharon in some scenes looks overacted.

The game music in the movie was, in my opinion, perfect. The atmosphere was excelent too.

I really liked the movie, specially the technical aspects, I think it caught some of the feeling from the first game (specially in the beggining when Rose follows Sharon in Silent Hill.). Personally I didn't like Pyramid Head's design it wasn't scary at all, actually the movie wasn't scary, so it's another thing that failed in the movie, how many times I jumped on my seat while playing Silent Hill? So many that I can't even remember all. Well but it doesn't take the credit of the actors and director,for instance I really liked Radha Mitchell's performance, as well as I enjoyed Lauren as Cybil. The worst thing is that we had to wait 6 years for the sequel and know what happens to Rose and Sharon after being trapped in Silent Hill, I'm curious to know how Revelation will deal with the twists on the plot... hope that Michael gives us a good sequel more close to the gaming experience, when we talk about the environment.

Personally I think that the beginning section of the movie was quite silly and the characters made some pretty stupid horror movie cliché decisions.
Especially Rose as a character suffered from poor writing in the beginning section.
Then we get to the town, and there the movie takes a turn and becomes very interesting.
