(SPOILERS) I noticed something...

Post by Wooden Plank on Fri Jun 17, 2011 8:38 am

Well, during the Good/Good+ Final boss, When Kaufmann throws the Aglaophotis at Alessa/Cheryl and then God comes out of her back, where'd Kaufmann disappear to? One minute he is beside Harry, next minute he's gone. I was kind of hoping for the good doctor to help me take down God. (Especially on Hard, ugh.)
I love the Silent Hill Series. The new games did nothing wrong whatsoever, they were developed well, and did things different. I believe that Silent Hill Downpour will make all Silent Hill fans happy. Team Silent doesn't exist, but their series does.

Just do the ammo trick.

Huh? No, I've slaughtered that thing with my beloved 12 Gauge. I just want to know where Kaufmann disappeared to. I know he got dragged to the pits of hell after the fight, I just want to know where he went during the fight. I mean;

Dahlia has just been electrified by the beast, Harry and Kaufmann are still standing. They prepare to fight.

*Begin Fight*

Kaufmann is nowhere to be seen.

Probably an oversight by the team. Back in the PS1 days it'd be a rare thing to see a competent, ally AI helping you fight against the enemy AI. That, or perhaps they just didn't write the code to make an ally AI help fight. Or, since this was the last fight, they wanted it to be soley fought by you.

I don't have an answer except: Normal video game story loopholes.

I would have pegged Kaufman to be too self-serving and just plain chickenshit to help Harry kill God.

Perhaps he had heart failure and his body was nowhere to be seen. But he somehow recovers after the fight.

Just typical video game logic is all. There was no friendly a.i. coded (which is why Cybil never fights with you) so they just opted to remove Kaufmann from the final battle for gameplay purposes.

But Cybil was KO'd before the fight...

If you fire all your ammo off before the ending, God will just die by itself.

Cybil gets knocked out, and does anybody actually think Kaufman would raise a finger to help even if he could?

I thought this was more a question of why he physically vanishes during the fight, but I'm guessing that was a design choice because Cybil will disappear during the god-shooting and reappear afterwards as well, if you let her live long enough.

So does Alessa. It probably has something to do with how the events of the game are supposed to unfold.

I'm talking about in general, not just in that fight.

Ah. I must've misinterpreted the question. Please accept my apologies. Plus, I also remembered, that even if Kaufmann decided to help, he wouldn't be doing much help. Remember how much of a terrible shot he is?

No need to apologize, we're human after all.

And yeah, his aim is pretty terrible. He missed Harry at point-blank range. You actually reminded me of the scene in that game that made me laugh the hardest. When I first saw that, I died laughing.

Here's my explanation:

*Kaufmann chucks Agalaophotis like a boss*
*Incubus is exorcised out of Alessa*
Harry: "Holy moly!"
Kaufmann: "I'll be damned!"
Harry: "Come on, Dr K! Let's take this guy d-!"
*Kaufmann runs off*
Harry: "......Motherf-" *gets struck by lightning*

And that's why it's the best game ever!
I don't get mad; I get even - which isn't normal, for someone as odd as me.

 *sides split*

But that''s actually a pretty fair assessment of our good doctor--he's very self absorbed.

It looks like things are getting too spicy for the pepper.

He pegs Dahlia without any trouble. Harry is just bulletproof, is all.

Kaufmann activates bullet time in that cutscene.

Also, according to this games logic, getting shot by a police issue handgun will knock you down and you shall die painfully, whereas getting struck by lightning will only hurt you a little and you will only flinch.
