I think it would make no sense if the second film had no PH. We need to keep in mind that this movie is in fact attached to the first one. I'm sure the director disliked his appearance in the first film as much as we did, but the crime has already been committed and they can only do so much damage control.

Am I the only one who is starting to wish these people would stop taking pictures and spoiling scenes? I'm curious about what will be in the movie too, but I'd like to find out the fun way!

Like howv I'm dreading the likelyhood I'll have no money when Downpour comes out and I'll have to avoid many internet domains like the plague untill I can get it (ditto on Portal 2 but this is obviously the wrong forum).

Taking on another perspective.... What if the second movie explains Pyramid Head's appearance in the first movie... That is if he even appears in the second one? This picture could still be photoshopped. (which I hate because I would rather see authentically real images)

Not only that but upon taking a closer look it actually looks like the thing is wearing some kind of hood rather than a helmet. Perhaps this is something similar to Pyramid Head, or even something completely different; after all, it's a strange angle and there could be more to the creature than we can see from the one picture.

I'd say his purpose in the first one is to basically kill everyone who's still alive in the town. That would normally just mean the cultists, but Rose and Cybil probably got mixed up in it by their association of being alive. (Or... not alive just in the fog/otherworld as the case may be)

Valtiel probably doesn't exist in the movie's version of Silent Hill. Remember, the Order isn't really even in the movie. Why would someone major like Valtiel be there?

Valtiel played a major role in SH3. Even though the Order is not in the movies, it would be wrong to leave out one of the key characters from SH3.

Here's the thing, though. He doesn't have any meaning to the cult in the movie. Without that meaning, what is he? He turns into just some guy turning valves. Assuming Heather doesn't die in the movie at some point, he loses more meaning because he's not needed to resurrect her. Who knows? Maybe the whole pregnant with God thing isn't in the movie, either. (I can't imagine it would be left out, but I'm equally uncertain what the point of the movie would be otherwise) Valtiel was sort of key in SH3, but this is about as related to SH3 as the first movie was to the first game. Similar characters and themes, but not even close to the same history.

I agree with JaneTheNurse, if Valtiel is still going to be in the movie they will have to write up some backstory or explanation or some such and most likely change the character and possibly its purpose, which would be worse than simply leaving him alone in the dark.

That is, IF we're right about what we've seen so far. We really shouldn't be getting so antsy at this point. We don't know for sure that PH will be replacing Valtiel. All we have is two somewhat obscure pictures. It's a bit early to condemn the movie.

I see what you guys are saying. But I also don't want to see PH turning valves now. The thing that ruined the first movie was that there was no explanation for PH. He just showed up and started killing people. They can add Valtiel to the movie and find a way to explain his presence.

But either way, whether he's in the movie or not, and whether if these images are real or fake, I hope that they don't throw a creature or character into the movie that leaves non-SH fans wondering who that was and why they only showed up 2 times like PH did in the first movie....

Gotta agree. After looking at if for too long, I kida think it looks like a hood. Maybe they made a Valtiel Costume, and the head looked ridiculous. Remember, what looks cool in last gen graphics, may not look cool in HD. And the "Robe" may be for covering his naughty bits, because a fleshy lump is more offensive than the real unit. So he may be Valtiel, just not as we remember him, what would the winged demons look like if they had been in the first film? Give you a hint: It's what Wisconsin, U.S.A. is known for, it's made from milk! But it does kinda scream Pyramid Head! If it's even real.

I always thought PH looked kinda small in SH2. Sure, he's bigger than the other monsters... But he seems to be about the same height as James if you take away the helmet and assume he has some manner of normal head under it. I'd say that's another example of stuff from the games not being quite as impressive on the movie screen. Let's face it, in SH2 he was a geometrically-interesting guy with a leather fetish and a night gown on.

Besides, he's not the same as the one in SH2, right?

It's been a long time so you'll need to refresh my memory: I remember the PH costume from the first movie didn't have a back-side... his ass was hanging out during filming. But I believe they did post-visualization on it to make it appear as a complete rob, yes? Perhaps they made a full back-side this time around? Hard to say... But if PH appears in the movie so be it. It'd be a shame to me but what can you do?

Yeah that was a pretty funny sight on the special features. You see this guy wearing the huge latex chestpiece and arms, got the gigantic helmet on, dragging around a big-ass knife... And then you see his skinny lil' legs. xD
