As for Kit Harington as Vincent. Well, I knew that would get you all fired up. I’ve never made any secret that this is going to be an adaptation of the game and not a slavish reproduction. So for me I can say that I always found Vincent in the game a fascinating but ultimately redundant character. He’ seemed to me to have no purpose in the narrative other than to offer a counterpoint view of what the Order/Claudia are doing. He is, if you like, the acceptable face of the zealots. His ideas and dialogue are interesting and I wanted to preserve some of that but I also wanted to use him in a more dynamic and interesting way for the film narrative. How it plays out in the movie, you’re simply going to have to wait and see but I don’t think it’s going to be exactly what any of you think. (or maybe it is. I don’t know.) Will some of you hate it? Absolutely. Because it is different. But will others maybe think it’s a neat twist on what you would expect? I hope that too.

Well, he doesn't really look like Vincent and is quite young but seeing that Bassett's obviously changed his purpose/presence in the film, maybe he's tailored for what he'll do in the film and not as a copy of the in-game Vincent. I kinda agree with his view on the game Vincent too. As for whether it'll be good or not, I guess we'll have to watch the movie first and then decide. As long as it's something that makes sense, I could end up liking the 'twist'. Time will tell.

Oh. My. God. Wow. Have I mentioned how much I like this guy? He has obvously put so much thought into this game and film and it looks like he has thought this character through and through!

It's true what he says about Vincent; he was simply a foil for Claudia. I hope they keep his personality because it would be nice to see the character himself have some use rather than a random person named Vincent.

I really like this concept.
I'm not sure exactly what this incarnation of Vincent is going to be like, but it seems like doing him differently is the only way to salvage his vibe and also make him work in context for what the first movie set up.

I do not like carbon copies, and I'm glad Vincent won't be one! Mainly, it's because of the same reason everyone else has said here. I can't wait to see what role he plays in the movie!

I doubt it. That boy must be dead as Cybil says: "You people, you get off the highway from whatever big city, bringing all your sick problems with you. We had a guy come up here two years ago... Snatched a little boy from a rest stop - dropped him into a mine vent. I never want to see anything like that again."

Officer Cybil Bennet received some local fame a few years ago after she heroically rescued a young boy in Silent Hill. A man had kidnapped the young boy and thrown him into an open mine vent.

I never understood why they threw that bit about the boy in there in the first place.
I guess it was to establish Cybil as a humanitarian? Like she went above and beyond for her job? Idk. That would be an interesting twist, I've gotta say.

I'm honestly surprised at how well this bit of info has been received here. I was expecting endless bitching. lol

Glad that's not the case though. I don't mind the change either, it could end up working really well. Or it might end up being terrible, but we'll have to see the movie to find out.

In any case, the director seems to know his stuff. So that makes me hopeful.

I like this. But then again, I have a raging crush on Kit Harington, so maybe I'm not completely unbiased.

I just hope he isn't Heather's boyfriend or whatever. There are so many other interesting things that could be done with this new interpretation of the character.

It was kind of jarring to see Vincent so young in the photos from the set, and I didn't like when I heard it rumored that he and Heather were going to be some sort of couple (I still don't and if the movie does this then I'll be severely disappointed with that part), but I'm glad this man is:
-Aware that fans seemed to hate the first film with a passion
-Aware that a reproduction of the game onto a bigger screen would be boring as hell
-Aware of Vincent's actual role (aside from "ooh comic relief and rebellion ooh!")

I like Kit Harington as an actor, and I am really looking forward to seeing how he does this.
Kit is one of my favourite actors.
