Yeah, but that's generally not the first definition that jumps into mind. Especially for the crowd that still attends school, which I think is a fair portion of Silent Hill's audience.

The Fever wrote:I am only criticizing the non-essentials now. The game will be completely scrutinized when I play it firsthand.

#1 The Price

59.99 USD/CAD in North America for a video game is profoundly expensive. While this price tag is the suggested retail price on many PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 first release installments, consider Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill 4: The Room, and Silent Hill: Origins all were games released 10 USD less than the common suggested retail price.

#2 The Subtitle

The first time I heard "Silent Hill: Homecoming," I honestly thought it was a practical joke. It turned out this non-amusing joke was valid afterall. I cannot be too positive how the name "homecoming" fits this game, but if a deceitful, fallacious portrayal was the intent, they succeeded.

#3 The Onscreen Selections

Displaying the button selections is not only visually agitating, but also insulting to my aptitude. If this development team knew anything about the real Silent Hill, they would have discovered KCET had subtle methods to indicate something (head movements of the characters, for example). I do not take pleasure in big, bright text to showing up on the screen during game play and essentially declaring, "Hey moron that cannot learn button-control layouts, press this button now."

#4 The Cover Art

The old idiom, "a picture says a thousand words," holds true. Unfortunately, I not think of 999 ways to say "WTF!"

#1: You do realize that new games in Australia are $120 AUD or ~$100 USD, right? I had to deal with that for a long time before I temporarily moved to America. Prices are much better here.

#2: Gonna have to agree with you. I suppose Homecoming makes sense if used in the 'war' sense, but as others have said, it's not what first comes to mind.

#3: Agreed. It ruins the immersion in the game. I hope to the almighty Red God that you can turn them off, or that they are only present in the first area of the game, or removed completely.

#4: I think the cover art is the most creative yet. Not the best ever, and the logo is sickly orange, but I think it's good cover art. I don't see what people hate about it. I mean, seriously, look at other SH games. Most of them are profiles of the main characters (in US). Japanese covers are only slightly better. This one actually had thought put into it (I hope).

Mm-yeah, the small ammo limit was kinda of a shame, but what is running around Silent Hill with fully-loaded everythings with almost endless ammo?

The game developers clearly hate people who want to play it on PC rather than console. >.>

Laser gun makes up for it.

I liked the fact there wasn't too much ammo. Made it much more challenging, the gun has been relied on for far too long in the series.

Here here! *cheers*

The diminished role of fire arms in Homecoming certainly forces Alex to get up close and personal with the monsters.

I don't have a problem with the portrait, but did they really have to add all of those words? "Horror, Blood, Help me, [upside-down cross]" It's like a cheesy new Omen sequel. Also, the logo is dumb. It reminds me of the Tony Hawk's Underground 2 logo, and if an action-horror game reminds me of a skating game, there's a little bit of a problem. :urgh:

They definitely could have done better, in my opinion. :\

Judging by European covers only, Homecoming has the worst one yet in my opinion. :-/ I liked SH3's Euro cover the best of all of them personally.

Yeah, both of those are fail, although the bottom one isn't THAT bad, it's just very bright and.....well....not as good as the others.

I think it's supposed to be a family portrait, but it's all burnt and it has negative comments all over it, probably to signify that the family has strange (cultish) roots, and that it's in peril right now.

Something like that.
