Yahoo Entertainment:
"Two-thirds of the audience for "Silent Hill" was under 25, an age group less likely to pay attention to reviews, and the horror genre tends to pull in fans over opening weekend no matter what the critics say"

True? :P

Film critics are the absolute SCUM of the earth!
I hate and scorn their very existence, NO ONE should listen to them!
Who the hell are they to say a film is good or bad?
Silent Hill deserves to do well at the bx office because it gives a lot of people something they wanted.

i am going to see it tonight TWICE!!! i do not listen to film critics... for me, being a film critic is the lamest form of profession ever in this world.

you, as an inidividual, can view whatever sucks and whatever is cool... it's a personal choice, and not to be told by some *&%^@#*. :)

I absolutely LOATHE movie critics (and sometimes game/music critics too).

They not only ruin the experience for anyone who reads their negativity, but have an air of pretentiousness, like their opinion is the only one that anyone will listen to.

Exactly. I've really stopped reading most movie reviews, even if they're positive. Most of the time there's always something that bothers me about the review and causes me to not enjoy whatever aspect they were complaining about, simply because they put the idea in my head.

Well, I wasn't expecting a lot of good reviews from this movie, mainly because it's a video-game movie. And whenever a critic knows that fact, they always get pessimistic about how this movie will turn out, perhaps understandably so.

To me, the movie wasn't perfect, but it was still damn good. The only thing I really didn't like was the interpretation of The Order, but it was a really good film. It was definitely much more original than The Sentinel or American Dreamz, and yet both of those movies get better reviews...I don't get it. The Sentinel is a direct copy of 24, and American Dreamz is just a political satire based on Bush and American Idol.

I think critics ought to had given Silent Hill a break. All of them mention how great the cinematography, the sets, and the music/ambience were. Yet they all bash it because they didn't understand the larger significance. There is so much symbolism and metaphor in that movie that I could find a new one each time I rewatch it. I guess critics aren't as smart as they say they are...

Still, congratulations to Silent Hill for being #1. It sure does deserve the honor.
