Woohoo! I'm first to post after seeing the movie. Let me just say this: amazing. It was amazing, it was totally different from RE and doom, and all those other pieces of crap! At the end of this movie, I have gained a very high level of respect for Christophe Gans and all the producers, and crew involved in this. Five bubble-head nurses out of five

I really enjoyed this materpiece, but after watching it once, I didn't quite understand it. But, artistically, it is a beautiful movie and I enjoyed it. It does game movies justice and the Silent Hill Movie was definitely very Silent Hill-ish. They stuck to their roots. I'm am very pleased.

I feel the same way...I enjoyed the movie greatly and thought it was the most accurate video game adaptation to date.....but I do have some minor things I didn't like about the movie

The monster designs were very faithful (Francis Bacon ROCKS!!!) But, did anyone else chuckle when the bug screamed at Rose and Cybil? And that's another thing... Why'd they have to go and [spoiler]kill Cybil?[/spoiler] (I know this section is marked for spoilers, but someone could have wandered in here by mistake) Otherwise, the film was good. Better than I expected, anyway. Bravo.

You know I have a handful of things I was happy about and some that I wasn't very impressed with at all but one thing I can't doubt is the amount of effort in the visual level and how much they subtle suggestions they tried to pack in.
It is definitely the best videogame adaptation to film I've seen. I'm very impressed that the majority of the monsters weren't done in CG, but with real people. Although I don't like the designs for all of them, at times their audial appearance was really something. Like the kid monsters in the beginning, screaming, and that melting in with Rose's screaming was really something to me. And the tiny feminine sounds that the nurse's made was something I liked. Even the human groan/scream of the janitor monster wasn't gratuitous to me. But I feel like the overall composition of where they put the songs in made me feel very rushed. I like my Silent Hill experience to be long and with many gray areas. And yes sir/ma'am, I like Francis Bacon too. |

Yeah, I was kind of expecting there to be new songs by Akira in the film; but it seems that every song was rehashed from the previous Silent Hills. Now, don't get me wrong: it was incredible to hear some of my favorite songs coming from theater speakers (especially at the start of the film when they played the opening mandolin chords of the main theme for the Tri Star logo); but I was hoping to hear something that I've never heard before. But, no biggie. Also, did anyone notice on the ending credits that the song "Tears Of..." (I think) was listed as being from Silent Hill 5? And there was another song listed as being from Silent Hill 6! What's that about?

Hmn you noticed that too eih? i really havent seen it for a long time but there was something like that... but probably it's something of like "2006 version" - sh2k6? hmn, have to see that credits again.
So far, i see the movie being a great addition for the whole Silent Hill Family... though there are some things i would also like to improve. I didn't have much trouble understanding with the ending part (like probably most people seem to be so confused about) but ending could be so theoretical like any Silent Hill games released. It was very much SH on the feel of atmosphere, and that's why i enjoyed it. Things that i could have wish they improved are some of the dialogues and act, that became an unintentional hilarity to the game [spoil]like when cybil was so frantic on what happened and rose was trying to calm her down and says "it's gonna be alright". Another thing was the nurses at the hospital, they're coreography was like they're ready to dance Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (on what i thought at that time, and people said it too... then laughed)[/spoil] The explanatory part wasn't a bore, it was needed to understand [spoil]the rage of Alessa and how she was divided into different entities[/spoil]... Plus the ending itself, i think it was a bit touching. Overall, it was definitely made beautiful but the downfall is that it wasn't that appealing for people that is not aware of what Silent Hill really is... and find the movie stupid (since they have the mediocre/stereotype thinking of a horror movie that it should be a lot of "boo" factor and a lot of scary violent stuff.) Silent Hill The Motion Picture is great, but they could have done improvements. |

What can I say really?
Great but could use some improvements. There were just some thouroughly cool, very Silent Hill esque moments in the film, and for that, although it has one or two flaws (but nothing too major) it overcomes them quite easily. Thumbs up to Gans. |

Ahhh..the movie, there are many many ways of deciphering it.
I am glad the movie was long and drawn out, for if you actually play the game for the love of it, it is long and ambient. I have read many critics review of the movie and as a general idea of what they thought of it: they had no clue what was going on, only the ones that KNOW silent hill would understand. It was not a horror movie, although there was no lack of blood if you have seen it... It is a supernatural/metaphysical film. It goes truely in line with the game; angles and all. Man I love it when the sky is turning dark and the sirens scream. And the janitor....very very disturbing. Pyramid Head (who is modeled after an executioner) is given enough time to not exploit him. I didn't actually like the roaches, too many of them, but the roaches weren't the reason to see the movie. Alessa, If you understand the meaning of Silent Hill 1, she was to be reborn as Samael or Lucifer. When Alessa says near the end, "I have many names", that is reference to Lucifer. Dahlia wanted Alessa to become Lucifer, but within Alessa's nightmares, she put the seal of metatron, which is an antigod seal. You can find Metatron in the book of Enoch. Anyway, The movie seemed to have many levels of dimensions: the past when the town was alive the past when Alessa was seen to be a witch the alternate reality the ghostly reality without miners, only the cult the ghostly realty with miners (looking for survivors) the real world ( where Sean is looking for his wife) the spiritual world the world of silent hill which encompassed beyond just the town overall it is a complex movie, one of the most complex ones out there |

I saw the movie on Saturday the 22nd and was kind of disappointed 2B honest. I'm still glad they made a movie out of my favorite video game series, but i felt it lacked some elements. I probably only feel this way because I'm so attached to the game's plots but being a huge fan of horror movies too I felt it was missing something. I also like many fans here, don't like the fact that they just threw Lisa in there & kind of down-played her character. ((& when asked in the movie who she was someone said "Alessa'')) I dunno for me i feel they messed with the story too much. In the games the cult people were into witchcraft and the movie kind of messed with that idea a little strangly too and made them seem like some crazed holy group. But overall this movie was pretty good I just feel they could have made it better. It seemed to me like they just mashed all of the plots of all the games 2gether and added/took out things. Oh YEA! & i don't like that they messed around w/ the songs either!haha..but overall they still sounded good. I duno is this just me or does any one else feel this way? Disappointed or not would love 2hear other fans comments on this...

That was a good movie, from the swarm of the first monsters that rose encountered to the ending of the gray new life of rose and Sharon. but some cool improvements would of been.:...
these small ones 1- the bug with no faces but still cool 2 - it would of been cool if towards the end when rose was running and she passes the gas station it should of been a texxon gas 3- This is no suggestion but is it just me or did the husband sound like harry mason or what? 4-and the nurses at the hall it should of been the Pyramid head instead of the hot ass nurses somethig like a boss or some thing . but over all it was all Gravy. |
