we had to be very conscious of the entire Silent Hill mythology, so everything we worked on as a team, would then go to Konami to make sure that any references to previous characters or any rules regarding the Otherworld shifts fit in the overall lore of Silent Hill. And believe me when I tell you that rules do exist and you can't break them.

Let's hope they really mean it.

That interview was actually pretty reassuring though I didn't hold many doubts for the game honestly.

After finally getting to play the game, I don't see much what's wrong with it, for a portable game done by a different dev team, it's pretty damn good, not to mention I haven't spotted any continuity errors.

"scariest and most disturbing game in the seres" ?

Probably because there is plenty of unnecessary action, boobs and other sexual "references".

And I happened to like SH0. I believe they did a damn good job of implementing the mythos into the game. A difficult feat considering that there's still a bunch of secrets.

Oh I forgot. SH0 wasn't the second coming of SH2. Sorry, of course it sucks. My mistake.

It was a great game, though not quite SH2 level. Let's just all get that point past.
And back on topic........ ^_^

Why would the developers of SH5 grant an interview to some random blog guy?

That may very well be, but I'm still a little skeptic of the situation.

Well I was sort of being sarcastic.

I'm just going to wait. The only thing that's got me worried are the latest screen shots. They're reminding me too much atmospherically of Silent Hill 4.

Indeed.
In fact, the only thing we CAN do is wait. I only hope that be get a quality game. I'm not expecting Silent Hill 2, but at least a good experience.

New screen shots: http://silenthill5.net/2008/02/15/new-s ... ots-3.html
It does remind me of Silent Hill 4, since you find corpses in the game, right? Or something undistinguished.

Corpses have always been seen in the Silent Hill games. However the blue/cool colors are what's screaming Silent Hill 4 to me.

I thought SH4 was red/black........

I love the new look though. The graphics please me. However, the streets feel a bit cramped so far.

I can assure you the game will not be anything like Silent Hill 4. Even so, I would not mind as I happen to like Silent Hill 4 better than the most recent Silent Hill game.

The screenshots are pleasing. The series may not be going downhill afterall. I like the enemies and detailed environments. I hope the story is as good as the writer says.

The screenshots remind me of a combination between the movie and the Resident Evil REmake. I'm still hopeful in SH5, though.

If they can use symbolism and put actual MEANING into the nurses, it doesn't matter HOW big their body parts are.
Also, the dev people said that SH5 would be returning to the psychological roots of SH2, let's hope that they keep their promise.

Here's hoping..
I think collectively (no pun intended..) we need to realize that we're never going to get another 'Silent Hill 2'. No matter how good, it'll never have the same impact. The story line was was ground breaking in Sh2 , and even if the Sh5 story line is "better", the first time always has the biggest impact.
That said, and back to the interview, whether it's legit or not, the sentiment sounds pretty similar to the interviews printed in some of the miltiformat mags that are going around.
Again, here's hoping they mean it and stick to it...
