The only caveat is that you have to add the money spent on advertising and marketing, which probably isn't much for Silent Hill. I'd say they probably spent no more than $5 million, which keeps Silent Hill way in the black.
I heard that the Sony execs HATED the film, but money talks and it's good to see that it did relatively well. I don't know about a sequel, though... unless it was heavily focused on emulating Silent Hill 2.
What I would like to see is a really good DVD edition... they could at least do that!
I didn't imagine it having up to such big money...but that's good! I remembered I heard a ton of people talking about it at school. Then I started joining it all talking about Silent Hill non stop for the whole class time.
Too bad I didn't see Silent Hill at the movie theatre...it's because I was only 14 years old.

Thats true. When I went on opening day there was little kids in there. They wouldn't shut up. I heard one of them say "thats the bad guy" I think they were talking about the armless creature. Well Im glad this movie did pretty good world wide.
Oh my! PS: When I went to the movies (with an adult of course), the movies were empty so there were no distractions. No kids saying "OMG THIS IS SO SCAREY LOL! I DONT GET THIS I HATE THE MOVIE CUZ I DONT GET IT"
