Your favorite Silent Hill game from best to least?

I saw something in the shoutbox that got me curious...
My favorite game from best to least would be:

SH1, SH2, SH3, then SH4. In chronilogical order.

I haven't played SH1 so I chose other.

for me it's SH2, SH4, and then lastly SH3.

Silent Hill 2 is ultimately my favourite, then it was a close tie between The Room and Silent Hill, but I've decided that I really like the bizarre dreamlike quality of The Room. And lastly, I don't like Heather.

I didn't want to be mean to 1, but I actually did like 4 better.
Something about 3 made it my favorite. Some parts disturbed me much.

1 and 3 are almost tied, but because the first one was the first horror game I ever played, the scare factor was stronger for that one than the third.

I can't rank them...cuz 1 & 3 are tied for me...I love them both, equally. so0o I guess mine goes like this:

1 and 3 are nearly tied, but 3 is too short and doesn't have enough endings.

Yeah - 2,1,3 & 4 for me too. I originally loved SH1 more as the music and atmosphere were so extreme. But as I delved deeper into the psychology behind 2, I began to realise some strong connections between the storyline and me. *Frantically stuffs his pillow into a bin*

I voted 2,1,3,4, as well. Didn't finish 4, and while I liked Heather, the game 3 just wasn't as fun or well-crafted to me. 1 and 2 would be about equal, but I do prefer that 2 has a more comprehensible plot and more emotional resonance. I might say 1 was the scariest, but I already talked about that in another thread.

Aww, why all the hate towards SH4?! Just 'cause it has tedious monsters instead of tedious puzzles doesn't make it any weaker of a title.

well, not technically hate SH4... i love SH4... but the least when compared to the other SH games.

If SH4 didn't have the ghosts, then it would be a definite contender for 2nd place... Lord, how I hate those ghosts...
