Salem's Lot 2022

Post by Norus_Rebirthed »

I remember the David Soul miniseries but never saw it. Didn't know it had been made into a 2000's film with Rutger Hauer. HAVE finished the book earlier this year, however!
If it's "What It Chapter One and Two did, but for Vampires!" then that sounds amazing!
Trailer still not released yet, but reaction to its glimpse at Comic Con proved appetising.

There's a sequence at the end of the book where it's snowing and someone from a car breakdown collapses in a bar. They and the two surviving bar members go to look for his wife and kids in the snow.
I bet you they put that at the start of the Movie! :brows:

Sounds like a very cool start of a movie
I'm going to town either way.

I like how it works as an epilogue before the historical epilogue. The town seemingly destroyed but for that Bar.
But see how it goes. Even out from order. As long as it more or less matches or improves on the story's beats.
Of course it could go wrong or even if brilliantly executed, the apathy among filmgoers could hit it.
But then if everyone who'd read the book or saw the other adaptations queue up.
You'd have a line going around the world a few times!

Oh dear. Moved back to 2023. :horse:
That's not a good sign, is it? Other films are being pushed back too.
So... Covid II: This Time It's More Virusy? Or maybe the film adaptation isn't that good?
Well I was looking at re-reading the novel anyway.

And it's been bumped from 2022 as well! Of course it has. https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/372 ... ease-date/
Say what you want about the BBC but if they'd done a version of Salem's Lot and it caused a similar black hole*, they would have at least broadcast it!
*=It wasn't caused by making content, it was the decline of Cinema going that was it's bigger problem.

So just read the book! It's a lot warmer and friendlier than the novel "It".
And also you get to make the perfect adaptation in your head reading it!

Funnily enough, before I bought the book I saw the DVD of the David Soul second hand. The minute I buy the book, it disappears from the shelves! Well played, Barlow...

In film news. It's pulled from theatrical release. But going to Warner's Discovery streaming channel in Spring!
Oh wait, still "no plans" https://variety.com/2023/film/news/sale ... 235774431/

At least more promising is Stephen King description of the film as muscular and like "Old Hollywood".
One way or another it'll see the light of day. Probably this year too.

The film is coming to Max!!!.... at the end of the year.
Still haven't gotten around to watching the second disc of the Soul Salem's Lot DVD!
And even then the vampire scenes, the floating kid. They looked like younger versions of ex's I'd been out with in the 90's!
That did take me out of it. Hopefully Salem's Lot (it takes it's TIME to set everything up! That's why modern test audiences confused!) 2024 will provide some more disturbing looking vampires. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movie ... 235850528/
