Got some strategy questions for this game

So I'm currently doing my first actual playthrough of this game via PCSX2 (I'd played the demo before when the game was about to come out, and later tried the PC version but was appalled at the gameplay so fell off it again, I pretty much only watched playthroughs on youtube to get the plot and whatnot back then, but I digress...) and I've made it to the point where you rescue/meet Eileen at the Wally World Hospital and decide to "go down further into" Walter, and I've opened up the dirty envelope to get the toy key which opened the box in the subway car to get the coin, which I then took back to the apartment to wash at my sink... Only to then be greeted by another new haunting, and I don't have any candles left to clear it out! I equipped a St Medallion to not take 5 billion proximity damage, but it broke but at least I got the coin washed.

Anyway after all that rambling my question is, boy oh boy are the materials you can get in this game really scarce, so how many more medallions and candles can I expect to find soon? I've cleared out two hauntings so far: the rapidly spinning clock, and the rapidly shuttering window. The current haunting is the bloody shoes that have moved from the door to the kitchen area. I'm kinda having anxiety about having enough candles to not only de-possess Eileen later, but also un-fuck my apartment with the inevitable future hauntings. I've also noticed that the ceiling fan fell down a while ago, and the whole apartment is darker and my health doesn't recover there anymore. Is the health recovery mechanic just always gone at this point, or can it be restored? I get the hunch that it won't return, which might be why I've been finding way more healing items in the levels now, as opposed to the first half of the game where healing items were super rare, probably to encourage more trips to the apartment.

I've been streaming my playthrough mostly because a buddy of mine wanted to see me play it, so here's the links if anyone wants to watch the VODs or future streams when I play it again, which will be pretty soon.

In the second half of the game, yes, your health does not heal in the apartment anymore. There is no way to restore it.

The candles and other items, my suggestion is to miteculously check the rooms; every room. It does give you plenty of candles because I remember cleansing the house totally of spirits. The medallians can also exorcise the spirits which was a mechanic I found out about later. You have to stand in the area and let it go away. (And no, they do not always break after the fact.)

I'd also recommend this video on all the hauntings with recommended ways to eliminate them:

Anytime I can help I don't mind. SH4 is a gem of a game that most people overlook. But it introduces a lot of mechanics the original trilogy never had.

It's likely you won't get all those hauntings in the video. I know some of them I have never gotten and a few may be randomized.

Yeah I beat it a few days ago and quite a lot of those hauntings I never saw. The one with the cracked wall I managed to get a whopping SIX times somehow lol.

I wound up getting the ending "Eileen's Death" since I cleared the hauntings out of the apartment but didn't manage to save Eileen in time. I didn't realize I could've used a candle on Eileen before I took the umbilical cord in the hellscape apartment section so she wound up walking a bit too fast... plus instead of just taking all four spears from each side of the arena at once, I kept doing them 1 by 1 which was a lot less efficient and too slow. Oh well, at least I can say I fully beat the game finally lol.

I will always remember going back to the room hoping to for heals and taking a beating because of the hauntings lol

When I play the Team Silent games, I tend to skip this one now. I always found it to be way too hard. I especially hated the 'escort mission' it became in the latter half when Eileen joins Henry. The atmosphere was amazing, but the gameplay was never really what I could label as "fun" in my eyes.
