Andy - SHPN

ImageImage
Little is known about Andy, the neighbor kid. He is never mentioned outside of the Play novel, and even then his scenario was only available in Japan as a mobile adaptor download.

further andy infos (from gamefaqs walkthroughs/faqs, game itself, and official guide book):
He is Cheryl's neighbor and goes to the same school as she does. He sees Cheryl out the window and wants to be her friend. He seems kind of shy though, and Cheryl runs off with her dad. He goes to follow her in Silent Hill after hiding out in Harry's car, and falls down a hole in the road after they crash. He can also be seen in Cybil's scenario at the aqueduct if you choose B (choosing A causes it to be Alessa in the water).

anyone with additional info or thoughts feel free to add!

SPOILER

Andy will look at Cheryl, and go "She's the one that pushed me in!" After at which point he shoves Cheryl.
Sooo you played Vlatiel´s version or U have the original version on GameBoy?

Neither. There's another translation on gamefaqs written by Toby Normoyle that's a bit more extensive, and I use that.

Here's the scenario I'm referring to.

"It will be ok...just a little more..."

Got it. Cybil gets a firm grasp on the boy's arm, and then successfully
pulls his small body up.

Yeah, that's the one I used for mine, he emailed me but I didn't finish the entire thing, no time.

SHPN Translation updates

Based on Toby Normoyle's translation. I put the videos back in and the Cybil scenario is almost completed. Some scenes are missing but you can click through them, and all the choice screens are in there now, also all the endings for Cybil. Working on adding music eventually. Andy scenario also back up.

Cybil scenario is now complete and uploaded, with some sounds and videos.

Started putting things into flash instead of html, so there are animations and music/sound effects.

Bumping to add links to English playable translation
http://alchemillahospital.net/playnovel/online-shpn/

And it only took me seven years to complete… Now available for online play and downloadable play (HTML and Flash format).

I got pretty overwhelmed by the tedium and the sheer amount of work involved in making the caps, animating stuff, coding everything, trying to make it flow correctly, etc. Actual translation is by Toby Normoyle. Content belongs to Konami, no infringement intended. Since it is clear by now we’ll never see an official version in English, somebody had to attempt it. There was a nice version on SHH but it was also incomplete, probably due to the huge amount of work involved…

If you have any interest in some of the weird story elements, you could enjoy this. If you hate text based games, this is probably not for you, though you might still want to go to gamefaqs and skim Toby’s translations if you’re interested in that. The game also has some rendered scenes that were not in the game.

I know it’s small, it’s at it’s full size though (on GBA). I will perhaps make the downloadable version twice as large.

If things are not loading, it’s probably a larger file with music or video, and you should wait until the flauros starts spinning before clicking on stuff. You click on the screen to get to the next screen. I was not able to code the puzzles from scratch, though I made a lame attempt at the butterfly one. Questions, commments, problems, feel free to post here.

Awesome! Would have loved an English release, but this is much more than acceptable instead. Thanks for putting so much hard work and effort into it for us.

=0)
I just wanted to finish the damn thing, since I started it so long ago.

It can also be played on PS3 and PSP by going to the page in the internet browser, and clicking the link that says "play on ps3" (this takes you to it on a plain black background).

I was surprised to see it mentioned on the official SH facebook, but at least it was an approving post. ^_^

^ I saw it there too. I think it's an amazing achievement on your part. I love how there are those like you that toil out of love, devotion and perhaps a little bit of (well intentioned) insanity for the good of the series. I guess I'll be resurrecting my old PC for this occasion (mac user). I'm glad you received the accolades you deserve. I look forward to checking it out.

Still needs a lot of cosmetic work, but at least all the text is there. Well, there is a missing paragraph in the cafe somewhere I haven't corrected yet, but otherwise it's all there. Cybil part might be missing the Dahlia video (in Balkan church) so I need to check on that, also.

More than a little insanity, I'd say. ;)

I also want to mention that I think many of us have always wanted to experience the 'Play Novel' because it is really the only chance we have of (potentially) saving (comforting) a certain someone, whom we hadn't ever the chance to before or since. A character that many of us are very fond of.

^Indeed. I like a lot of the weird different stuff with other SH1 characters.

Now my site is behaving strangely, so I'm thinking of uploading the zip file elsewhere. I don't know. It went briefly offline and it could be from extra traffic. =0\

Last time I checked, it worked fine and was complete, except for one or two pages I may have overlooked.

ETA: Ok I see the problem. I had it hosted on another domain, and I let that domain expire. I have relinked the files now.

The old forum was merged with this one.

I haven't had time to finish a downloadable, it takes too much time and I'm not a programmer, so I just have a translation online now.

^It is a text-based gameboy advance game with multiple endings based on Silent Hill 1, where you can play as Harry or Cybil.

If you don't mind playing a text based adventure, this game isn't half bad. There's a lot of things here that's not in the original game. And that's not even counting the Cybil scenario. Some of the alternate endings was just pure brilliance.

^Agreed. I mean, if people go into expecting a regular game like the actual main series, or if they aren't familiar with or don't like text games, they're gonna dislike it. But I think it's cool for what it is, and I like the alternate stuff and different endings. I just with we had bigger pics of the renders that don't exist in SH1.

I love text-based games.
It makes me wish this had been released in the US...
Still, Amy, the translation of the game you have is a lot of fun and I appreciate the work you put into it. :)
