I think I gave my thoughts on twitter sometime, but will repeat here, this is excellent stuff - not sure what the overall plan is (walk through Silent Hill?) but really impressive anyways.

Oh man, I give up, your scene looks better than mine. I thought I would be able to finish this soon. Here's what I did so far. But your proportions are perfect. Can't wait for another release

I was looking at unity player, walking around the town and thinking - it is possible to join a team and to do a serious job with this? I mean, you're serious, but I was thinking about a real game...

I was messing around with Unity last night which made me remember that I downloaded this a few days ago, so I tried it out...

Wow. Great stuff. That fog effect is killer, arguably the best in any Silent Hill game to date! :P

The only bad thing I could maybe say about it is that I want more of it, and also the flashlight doesn't seem to cast shadows... understandable if you're using a free edition of an older Unity version, but Unity 5 has no limitations for free users other than "you owe us X percent of any profits you might make" type of thing. If you are using Unity 5 and have shadows enabled... you might have to do something like put the flashlight off-center from the camera so that the shadows being cast by the flashlight aren't right behind the object casting them from the camera's perspective.

Keep up the good work though! I'll probably make a Silent Hill-ish game in Unity... someday.

What I can do to help?
Modeling, texturing, some Unity stuff (js/c# scripting - entry lvl), everything. That's all I know :D

And, i have all original inventory models (74), it will help?
I plan to remake some item textures.

REVEAL SPOILER

Unity 5 is impressive! They are about to release native support to VR Oculus. You may think about twice camera for 3D view. People are doing at home with smartphones or tablets, I guess soon this technology will be popular.

I started this exact same project for a GTA mod a long time ago
Image
I didnt get too far into it however because I belive that model extraction is totally possible, i'd started a thread on xentax
http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=10812
In another post someone has been (or had been) working on a model viewer, so its really just about finding the right tallented person to crack it. My dream was to combine all silent hill game areas surounding toluca lake for a GTA mod

Great job Giromancy, I tried your demo a while back, any plans to release it on github?
Im a Unity user myself and always wondered if old ps1 titles could be recreated given the lower poly count and level of detail.

I know its a super alpha demo, but the version I tried, the fog was looking over animated using Unity particles with large quads fading out, imho it should be still. Also, I'd love to see an option to enable dithered texturing, there are some Unity shaders over here could help recreate a PS1 look:

Re: Your Vray test renders, you might be able to do a bake with lighting + throw in some low resolution ambient occlusion for a gritty look.

Anyway keep up the good work!

Okay, so I've recently gotten around to downloading this but when I come to run it I can't see anything.

What I mean to say is that it loads up fine, I begin after selecting "Start" but once it loads up all I can see is, well... nothing but yellow-ish fog. I know that Silent Hill's foggy, but this isn't right.

Could it be a graphics card issue or something?! :(

Try to update the graphic card drivers, maybe you can fix it with that. ;)

~3 weeks ago i started create tech-demo of my IRRLICHT game. For levels i need simple graphic and low poly models, and i begin build Old Silent Hill. using OpenGLExtractor for rip textures, and 3Ds Max for create mesh.
