Comparison To The Other Games

Post by MurphyPendleton on Mon Apr 02, 2012 4:03 pm

I Like The Squeezing Through Small Area's And Ducking Under Things Like In Homecoming, I Wish They Would Have Added The "Cutting Through" Like Alex Did With The Walls Of Skin. I LOVED That. Personally I Did Not Like The Running Sequences, It Was Mindless Running (Which Is Realistic If You Consider Putting Yourself In That Position) But I Felt Like It Took Away From The Story.. It Had Nothing To Do With Anything. Unless There Is A Part Of The Story That Is Slipping My Mind. Can Anyone Tell Me What The Void Is All About?

It represents Murphy's guilt and rage, which he's trying to escape.

I Hate It, So Bad Haha. I Feel Like They Added That Feature Just Because Of Its Popularity In Shattered Memories

Weird, because most of the people I've heard--at least, fans of the series--hated it. I liked it, myself.

I didn't mind them the first few times, but they got old quick. Mostly because the void could phase through walls and always took a straight path to you. I've died so many times from being too far ahead of it and running down a switch back, or up a set of stairs and the void just coming straight up to me.

You know...Void is really scary. It's a black hole that can destroy your very existence.

I did like the Void chase sequences, but as others have stated, I think it was a bit over used. I've always liked having the time to explore the madness and horror of the Otherworld, and even though that was present in Downpour, more would of been nice. Don't get me wrong though, I really like Downpour...it's an awsome game 8-)

I really disliked the Void chases, they made the Otherworld almost impossible to explore, which strangely seemed interesting in Downpour despite the hideous design choices.

i actually kinda liked the voidchases, a little change of pace:). I enjoyed the franticness of the whole thing but also had the luck of running in the right direction so i got them on the first try, emphasis on luck.
Wasnt there one otherworld section which featured a little more walking than running :P? with the Blue candles and such.

But what i liked most was the surreal design.

I liked this game as well! There were many points about it that I loved, such as the whole new area of Silent Hill. I kind of liked that they expanded on the town and gave us new areas to explore. Plus, and I've said this before, I thought the game played with the survival horror genre well. I always get annoyed when others say the Silent Hill series is no longer survival horror.

I completely agree with this. Some of the environments in the otherworld chase sequences actually looked interesting if you could explore them. It was a wasted opportunity. That said i did enjoy exploring the otherworld sequences that you could actually explore. I just was never a fan of the chase sequences...i didn't like it in SM and even tho it was handled a bit better in this game, i'm still not a fan of it.

Downpour is still one of the better SH games tho and i still think the series is finally starting to head in the right direction.
