Just read this http://silenthill.wikia.com/wiki/Overlook_Penitentiary. It says it dosen't make sence that Overlook Penitentiary locate on the island and in central Silent Hill at the same time but hey.
What if the "Silent Hill" we see in Homecoming is one big island where Overlook Penitentiary locate and is NOT Silent Hill At all.

I actually though the one we see in Downpour was a new extension. Or, since murphy goes there after hes shot and killed by Anne, that it was all in his head. It's not really there on the island.

They relocated it just beacuse they wanted too. I think it's an illusion actually and doesn't exist (the Downpour one)

Agreed. That's what I originally thought as well, that it just didn't exist. Because we go to it after Murphy is killed and is brought back to life by the town to complete his mission there. Probably similar in the ways Anne died her two times and DJ Ricks

The way I think of it, and this can explain SO MUCH about the series and the map inconsistencies, etc....

Is that nothing about locations is set in stone because Silent Hill is making these locations where and when it wants. It's not necessarily where the Overlook Penitentiary is supposed to be in the real world (if that's the way you see it), or things are being moved around in the real world by the Spiritual Power as it sees fit. It's like Silent Hill's spiritual power is a video game Dev working on the game.

OMG....what if it is? What if Silent Hill really is just a game...even in the game?

Damn i always thought that it was a real, desolated, abandoned town.

But while i was reading your posts.. first of all white claudia´s thoughts... now I´m wondering.

Even so... I don´t believe Murphy is killed. I think that... a second... no less than a second before... they "fall inconcious" and the city place them into the location everybody knows. Like Anne when she fell. She simply vanished and appeared in other place.

Now i´m confused... It´s a very good theory!

I saw it as a way to get him "transported" to prison Otherworld.

They refer it to it as the town bringing him back to life, reviving him in a sense. I would think that means he is in fact killed, but revived because the town is not done with him. I mean, obviously in the real world he's not dead,
REVEAL SPOILER
as in most of the endings, him and Anne wake up back at the crash site, as if it was all in their head.
That's how I took it. Because after she shoots him, a lot of his life flashes before his eyes, what they say happens before you die. I think they left it up for interpretation, and I believe he was, in a sense. Like I said, not literally, as he's "revived" and somehow wakes up in the Prison.

Either way you look at it, in either scenario, you can still say the Prison we see in Downpour doesn't exist. Hell, that whole section of Silent Hill in Downpour might not actually "exist" either.

What happened? More teleportation.

Which is dumb, but whatever, people seem to like it.

Didn't the previous games (including TS ones) had teleportation?

Really it's only been around since Origins in pure "You're standing here now youre not" form.

I'm sure Harry teleported a few times in SH 1. Henry teleported in SH 4, stuff with bathtub in 3 also counts (hell, Overlook Otherworld in Downpour works in a similar way like that bathtub example, same for SH 4 stuff). Those are the ones I remember at the moment.

That's all way different. In SH1, Harry passed out and went into a dream or another dimension or something. He wasn't being taken from where he was and transported to another part of town or something. The same goes for 3. Heather passed out and woke up in the same spot, but the world around her was different.

In 4, Henry goes to other parts of the world or other worlds through portals.

But that's kind of similar in Downpour. Murphy "passes out" and wakes up in Otherworld.

Doesn't Harry wake up on a totally different place at one, or more points in the game? Don't count the one when he meets Cybil for the first time, she could've bring him there.

Also, you basically said that Henry teleports in 4, because portals are kind of like teleporters.

Murphy gets shot (or not since you can't see it) then winds up in another part of town inexplicably.

It feels lazy to me. If you disagree by all means do so, but it won't change my outlook.

I'm just saying that it's not really new in the series, was done before in earlier games. The town is powerful and won't let Murphy go because he's not finished with some stuff, he can't leave because the town won't let him leave.

Don't see how the town being able to teleport people is dumb. It can also create monsters and other kind of weird stuff.

Also, like others mentioned, the location where Murphy is may not even exist, kind of like the prison/labyrinth in 2.

1. It's not new since Origins has been out for years
2. It's dumb to me. I don't see how that's a problem for everyone else that loves teleportation. You get what you want so why complain?
3. That would be a much better explanation and be more like what Silent Hill's original creepy factor would offer.

Regardless, the prison section is by far the worst part of the game.
