Regarding why you would want to replay a zone (in addition to what Tomm touched on), certain zones and worlds will have certain weapons, artifacts, notes, enemies, rooms, store items, etc. Not everything just piles up the deeper you go. So as you start paying attention to each of the pages in your book, you'll find yourself wanting to visit certain locations.

Plus the zone select screen is really rad. 8-)

Also, I would like to note that multiplayer is good, but the Loot system needs some real work. Group loot is not cutting it. We need some individual loot. As an option or in general. A mic mute on the game screen would be good too, rather than having to go into the menu. Difficulty should be pumped up a bit more in MP too. Just a few thoughts.

Yeah, but you're only seeing the very top of it. ;)

Thanks for the feedback. There's a lot of elements we would've like to have put on the touchscreen during gameplay, but between what's there permanently and occasionally, it's completely packed, so some things needed to reside in menus. Enemies do scale in multiplayer, but it's not a full +100% per player because most battling still comes down to one human fighting one monster at a time, and we found that bumping it up too much proved overwhelming and/or boring to wear enemies down. Where we have it now felt like a good balance for all things considered.

I have just found the group loot to be more of a frustration, rather than a fun difficulty. It just seems that individual loot is something that has become a mainstay of modern ARPGs, and having group loot is a step back for the genre as a whole.

Also, how are other people joining me (story wise) if this is working how I think it is. (just hassling you guys)

Thanks for the additional thoughts, Adam!

Got past Zone 4 - onto Zone 5 - Butcher is a tough mofo at the moment - still using the fire sword from the first boss. I dig how Zone 4 is very different looking from previous - this game has a lot more visual diversity than I thought it would based on demo

And, this is officially the smoothest running SH title this year...YAY!

I bought it! I'm loving it. Got stuck in Zone 4. Those darn needlers are pretty deadly. So, i'm zone 1 grinding until I'm ready to take on those needlers. I played multiplayer with a friend, the voice chat works fine and didn't experiences any issues. It was a smooth experience. I'm quite impressed c:

If anyone wants to play co-op on BOM, my PSN is fateofdissonance

Poorjack, isn't it better to find out story things yourself? Tomm and Adam are not going to reveal those things to you, if they did you'd be spoiled.
Also, don't try to find out how story "screws up the canon" young padawan, play the game, find all the secrets, you can't discuss the plot if you didn't fully understood it yet.

That's one of the charms of RPGs, exploring stuff, finding secrets etc.

Btw. like I said before, I'm not really interested in this game, but man it sounds fun (this is coming from a RPG fan). Too bad it's Vita only D:

Not trying to get details, just clear things up. But yeah. The game is a blast.

Wait, you can do legit chat with others? Thought we had the command options only. Got to zone 5 last night - where you have to escort the dog - went to bed right after that. Needlers are hard at times - but its good - not into easy games

Played it today for the first time while waiting to go on a meeting (lolo), it was in a crowded place, but I mostly wanted to see how the game looked compared to the demo and stuff. It looks a bit better than the demo, and I like how the progress is more focused (which was to be expected since the demo was, well... a demo).

I got 2 complaints so far. One of which comes from the demo as well, that's the loading times. Around 30 seconds. Nothing too important, but it's still a bit.

The other complaint is - and maybe I just missed this somewhere? - there are no subtitles? I played in a crowded place and had no headphones with me, so I couldn't follow anything. I was going to start from the beginning anyway tonight, with headphones, but still, if I want to play in a crowded place and for some reason have no headphones, there should be subtitles.

Unless there is a way to add subtitles and I just missed it (didn't see anything in the options menu).

Otherwise, awesome fun game.

The fan reactions are surprisingly positive, I'm starting to be interested in this game. I hope there's going to be a PSN release if the sales are good. :)

Wait, people spit on the game, saying that it's a piece of crap and then they actually play it and even like it?!

Honestly. can't say I'm that surprised.

Yeah, I love/hate the game for reasons you can see in this thread- It is really fun to play, but just doesn't sit right with me from a lore perspective. It is like the comics. It fits better in that universe if you ask me.

I haven't played enough to make a final opinion, but yeah, I think of this game as the comic books (which were fun, excluding one or two horrible ones) - a spin-off. Something related to the series, but not exactly affecting the main series. A dungeon crawler with a Silent Hill skin - an homage to the Silent Hill universe in a different experience. And that's how I find the enjoyment.

I don't remember people making all this fuss about Arcade or Ophan(s). Haven't played Arcade, but it looks like a fun time. I played Orphan 1 and 2, and they were entertaining, that's it. This, also a spin-off, is more than that, it's actually a very good, entertaining and addictive game. They never tried to sell this as a main series game, or a survival horror, so I always had this feeling towards this game.

I cannot wait for another entry in the main series though :)

From what I remember, no body claimed that silent Hill Arcade, Orphan, or mobile were canon...

The word "canon" is tossed around too much. Most SH games have been stand-alones (of course, excluding the town) with their own story, maybe with some references here and there to other games.

Again, can't say for sure about BoM, but I'm sure it'll be it's own thing. I can't tell what it means with BoM being "canon" before I finish it, so I may end up complaining later - or not. We'll see.

Here is something I believe to be a misconception. All the games are related, and have an order, through Lore. For instance, The cult story line is what ignited the supernatural powers, through the ritual done to Alessa, which caused the events of Silent Hill 1,3,0. James comes back to the town after the power was amplified by the events of 1, and there were several articles that could be read, and paintings he saw that created his monsters, such as PH. PH is James' guilt eating him up and driving him, but it's appearance is from a painting of a cultist in ritualistic garb, quite probably of Jimmy Stone. Jimmy stone was one of the victims of Walter Sullivan, and a prolific cult leader, the leader of the Valtiel sect. He wore white robes and a triangular red hood when he was conducting rituals and executions in the name of Valtiel. Valtiel being the creature that took care, and drove Heather in Silent Hill 3, and takes care of you in Book of Memories.

Bang. All the games are related in this way. This is also how you explain multiple creatures looking like PH, but not BEING PH. Jimmy Stone was a very public figure, and he is important in the cult's history.
