A celebration of all the past history of Silent Hill

E3 Interview with Tomm Hulett - https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... w7EYEAsVP8

Quick Breakdown:

- Howard Blackwood runs the shop in-game.
- You can play locally or wirelessly.
- You are able to share items with other players.
- Communicate with other players using pre-recorded class specific shout-outs or by using voice chat.
- Front touch screen used for menus and puzzles, rear touch screen used for special attacks.
- Seems to be a large amount of replayability as the game changes dependent on the number of players you play with and the decisions you make.

Closing quote:
Silent Hill fanbase is really particular

Dam right we are! :D

well lets hope the game's plot lives up to its developer praising, the game seems interesting, and im not saying graphics are the most important thing in a game but they should be ashamed of themselves for having such shitty graphics for a VITA title.

To be fair, this is the developers first foray onto this platform. Not every game is going to look like Uncharted on the Vita. Look at current gen consoles: even games that are released now don't rival some earlier titles.

I agree on the visuals being underwhelming, but they might get tidied up before release. The footage we're seeing could very well be from a really old build.

Anyone else planning on doing some MP on this when it comes out? I don't have a Vita yet, but feel free to add me on PSN if so. My ID is the exact same as the one I have here.

Given how downright nasty and hateful some fans have been towards him, I get the idea that he's not exactly being complimentary here.

If you want to lose all hope for humanity, read the comment section for that video. It's a pissing contest about Tomm's influence on the series instead of anything actually about the game. *facepalm*

Is this shit still necessary? >_<

It looks like things are getting too spicy for the pepper.

Reading comments on any Youtube video is a great introduction to misanthropy.

I feel sorry for Tomm. If he was japanese or from Team Silent they would be kissing the ground on which he walks.

They think he's the cause for the "downfall" of the series, yet he's the one who stopped shit like the "Alessa vs. Josh" battle from happening...

I'll definetly be willing to co-op this game, need to get a Vita though obviously :D

My opinion exactly... the guy is a dedicated fan and does know his stuff and can argue with the best of them, but because he isn't the almighty original...... pretty much half (maybe more) of the fanbase outwardly detest him.

I think his biggest flaw is listening to fans at all. It's apparent that he has good ideas and concepts. But trying to make them "fit in with the Silent Hill fanbase's perception of what the game should be" usually hurts the games more than it helps. He should just make a game exactly like he wants and say to hell with the "fans". They'll buy it with Silent Hill in the title regardless.

My two bits.

I always remember this when I see people trashing poor Tomm. I would have died of secondhand embarrassment for the people who developed that game if it had ended up happening.

I think he definitely cares deeply for the series and understands what makes it special. He just needs to develop a game with confidence in himself as a person with good ideas and surround himself with people who can bounce off each other and pitch a lot of cool ideas instead of yes-men who will agree with lame stuff to appease fans.

I agree, one thing that is always consistent when a new game is announced no matter what the context of the statement is, is "I'll play it anyway because I'm a Silent Hill fan". I believe that there will always be a good amount of "core" SH fans to play new titles.

I think Tomm has done that with Adam at WayForward. I talked with Adam a little via email and it seems that Tomm has really enjoyed working with him and in an environment that didn't require too much adherence to the "series formula."

In all honesty, I kinda hope he learns from that experience. Adhering strictly to fan demands is not healthy for a person (especially with a fan base that is as split as the SH fans). I really hope BoM's freedom allows for more creativity and new directions for the core series as well.

Hey guys, I appreciate the sentiments and concern, but I've never once changed anything in a game because of the fans. Not even the one time you are so sure I did - that was all there already. (Devin changed a thing or two, though).

Not even the one in BoM that will so totally look like it was taken from a thread title on a different forum.

All the same, BoM is super fun and I hope you all enjoy it. I'm sad you have to wait until October.

That's a good thing "Fun" is something that alot of people especially on the facebook Silent Hill page.. forget about, they're getting so wrapped into the lore of Silent Hill... that they fail to forget what this title seems to be about "A celebration of all things Silent Hill" I'm looking forward to it mainly because I want a Robbie Mask :P as per discussed!

Oooh snap. :)

That's the only bad thing at this point; the wait. However, this gave you guys some more time to do some more marketing (and it allows time for more people to get Vitas in their hands).

Yeah, I'm not too miffed about the delay since I have no intentions of buying a Vita at this time. Waiting for a potential price drop on the severely-overpriced mem cards as well as some more games to come out first.

Unfortunately, I don't really have any plans to buy a Vita. It's not because there aren't games that look cool for it (Uncharted and BoM for the win), but because my PSP mostly just collects dust and gathers a charge (I finally just left it plugged in). I'd hate to spend a few hundred bucks and have the same thing happen with a Vita.

Is there any chance that it will come out on another device besides the Vita? I probably won't ever get one.

I am very much looking forward to this game. And as such, I've just preordered this via Amazon.com in the U.S.
I personally feel that the haters of this game subscribe to the notion that Silent Hill, at its very core, cannot be played, shown, or whatnot, in a format other than the console games we have gotten to date; I disagree with this viewpoint
Don't make Silent Hill fans' mad!!!!
