Are You Excited ?

I'm still confused as to what's true. I mean, canon spin-off is almost an oxymoron. It's been done, but usually spin-offs expound on a certain plot element and add a new mechanic or two and have a completely separate story that doesn't affect the enjoyment of the core series. Final Fantasy has done this extensively (especially with FFVII). While those entries are technically canon, it doesn't really alter the original experience all that much. Fans were up in arms about that as well (but not so much since Square still had some control over it, I assume).

That's the thing, I probably just heard spin-off and assumed non-canon, oh well! That being said I'm still not sure how I see this game playing out as canon especially since you create and take the role of the character + co-op aspects, unless it doe's that whole unnamed silent protagonist thing..., where they're usually referenced as "that hero from the past" +}

I'm a big fan of Crisis Core :) Off note, +}

Well, they've already revealed that your character will speak in a voice related to its class (jock, preppy, rocker, goth, or bookworm). I can't help but think all of these will be terribly stereotypical in their dialogue. :/

After seeing this trailer, what little excitement I had kinda plummeted downwards. I'm not writing the game off yet, but it doesn't look amazing or ground-breaking. They're tryin' somethin' new, yeah, but in this case it's a pretty far departure from anything we've had before. I don't really play dungeon crawlers at all, so it's not really my style, but I'm willing to give it a shot if it turns out to be decent.

I like Monster Hunter on occasions and I enjoyed Square's ripoff, Lord of Arcana. If it plays anything like either of these titles, I'll probably like it.

I guess I would be more excited if the game wasn't coming out for a machine I have no intention of buying anytime in the next several years.
The above post is intended to be factual, unless it isn't.

^ I think that's what turns a lot of people off to the title. You know what would would really piss me off?

If I buy a Vita and it is ported to PS3.

^^ Above is so going to happen XD

Thought this should be showcased in this thread...

http://www.destructoid.com/e3-i-played- ... 9000.phtml

Some more food for thought.

- Definitely a dungeon crawler
- Seems like your character can duel wield weapons?
- Seems like we are going to be having like 70+ weapons in our inventory again (I'm looking at you origins) [This is just my assumption]

The lackluster trailer turned me off to this one, honestly. I wasn't going to play it anyway since I have no intention of getting a Vita, but I was interested. Now I'm not so sure.

I'm skeptical of the labels as well, bookworm, goth, jock, prep, etc. I don't even think I would fit into any of those specifically.. I read, so I guess I'd pick bookworm?

I have a hard time deciding between rocker or goth... shit, even bookworm sounds appealing, too. I hated being typecast in high school, now I have to do it for a game? I understand it's classes, but personally I would've preferred a different system.

Yeah, the typecasting is kinda lame. At my highschool, we didn't really have any generic stereotypical groups like that. Everyone pretty much knew everyone anyway, and everyone had their own circles of friends, but that was it. Didn't really have any douchebag jocks picking on people who liked to read books or anything like that going on...

But meh, I guess if I'd had to pick, I'd be a rocker. Not sure how that "class" will be presented in-game; probably some stereotypical metalhead or something.

That's how my school is, I live in a pretty small town and the closest thing to those kinds of labels are "band people" and "everyone else". And there's not a lot of variation on styles of dress, there aren't goth-looking kids as opposed to kids decked out in Ralph Lauren. Everyone pretty much dresses more or less the same, just with varying levels of casualness.

Are the classes in the game only for superficial purposes or will the different types of people have different "stats" or start out with some kind of unique ability? If so it would almost be less silly to have class names like "priest" or "demon hunter". :P

The classes do change your core stats. The only thing I'm not looking forward to with that is the possibly stereotypical voices and dialogue.

Rocker: Bro, there's like, a Pyramid Head, man!
Preppy: Like, omg, no way. It's soooo like, disgusting.
Jock: I'll keep you safe with my masculinity, Stereotypically Pretty Girl!
Goth: Pff... I don't care. If he kills me, it'll save me the trouble.
Bookworm: You guys, don't worry. It is simply a mental construct symbolic of guilt and sexual aggression.

Wait... this sounds a lot like...

Let's just assume Scooby is suicidal.

Goth Scoob, lolol.

I recall him saying something like the Bookworm has higher stats towards 'intelligence' and 'mental' powers. Wonder what the Rocker will have?

Higher crafting or alchemy skills?

Rocker is somehow synonymous with stoner in my silly mind.

I'm a rocker irl but I don't smoke pot

Also pot isn't really harmful, so if anything it'd give you a few pluses rather than minuses.

It makes the monsters look like, happy bunnies, man.

To these guys Silent Hill is literally on the same level as Resident Evil.
No wonder he treats the series the way he does...
