Are You Excited ?

Yeah, I'm excited. It's not supposed to be a horror game, in this case, and it's not like main-series games are suddenly going to stop being survival horror or anything. It looks like it'll be fun with a Silent Hill skin, and that's all I'm expecting.

Who said it's not horror? It's very horror. It's just a lot of other things, too. ;)

It's quite different from what we've seen so far in the series, it's actually a totally different approach while a spin off, I'm excited anyway, it looks interesting and will probably be enjoyable. However I won't have the oportunity to play it as I'm not planning to get a PS Vita, unfortunately I won't experience the game, but I'll definitely get my hands on the soundtrack, it looks so awesome! I'm more excited about the soundtrack than the actual game, but I have my reasons (those I've said before) Hope Book of Memories gets sucessfull!

Well, what I mean by that is that it doesn't appear to be the same kind of horror as the other games, too; horror-themed, it looks, but less... terrifying, I suppose?

We'll have to see. When Origins came out and my friend and I got that, we didn't think we'd be scared since it was on a small screen. Put in my headphones and played in my room (and his house at times) in the dark, was totally immersed.

The game is definitely a headphones experience (but then being a SH game, that should go without saying).

Handhelds are great for horror experiences. It's a guaranteed private experience, as you won't have a bunch of people in the room sharing your tv.

Plus, using a Vita and gaming with people through the net gives you more isolation. Nothing ruins a horror game like your friends on the couch making stupid comments.

I'll second that, although I'm not sure how the online will work with the Vita (voice chat seems like it might be able to screw with the experience).

However, my roommates and I all got scared from Downpour at times despite having some lights on and being in the same room.

Playing a horror game alone, but with people through the net actually appeals to me. It's because despite the fact that you're playing with others, you're still isolated. Check out Kiyoshi Kurosawa's "Kairo" (a.k.a. "Pulse") from 2001... It touches upon these aspects. Amazing film.

Eh, multiplayer and horror can work, but it's not exactly an easy process. There can be moments like a group of friends just getting the game for the first time and jumping in not knowing what to expect. Let's say you separate to screw around exploring random stuff, you suddenly get attacked by some monster and you're in a panic since your buddy isn't nearby to save you.

Stuff like that can work in a horror game. I think RE: Outbreak came the closest to realizing stuff like this...granted, part of the reason was the boneheaded decision to omit voice chat...

Having randomized events and factors in the games to change things up from playthrough to playthrough would help. Character specific special abilities would be a big plus as well. One of the best things about Outbreak is that each character legitimately forced you to come up with a new strategy to beat each level.

I'm intrigued, and am interested to see how it unfolds.

Though deep deep down, I'd be lying if I said I am not already waiting for SH10..., sorryQQ
But I do sincerely wish that BoM will change this notion:)

As soon as I found out this game was playable with people all around the world and not just a "Link with the person next to you" game, I went from intrigued to excited. Not gonna lie.

My first thought was that I'd be able to play with my friends I've met online who like Silent Hill from all around the world. And that in and of itself is just awesome. (Now I gotta save for a Vita)
Just because I don’t agree with you on something, doesn’t mean I don’t respect your opinion.

Nah, I think this will be a Vita-exclusive. I don't think it'll ever get ported to anything else.

It's doing things completely new that has never been seen in the series, hell it has RPG based elements..., class system, powers and the like. Perhaps it's a bit unorthodox but as a game it'll probably be something of a likeness to a tactics game, with dark overtones influenced from the Silent Hill franchise that we all love to discuss. It's not trying to be the next Silent Hill 2, it's trying to be different, something fresh in the Silent Hill world. I'm sorry IT'S NOT GOING TO BE SILENT HILL 2, so get over it.

Also I applaud them, they truly have a lot of respect to the franchise and seem to be deeply devoted fans and they truly address the backlash from those more radical fans of the series.. I don't think they're trying to outright harm the lore or screw up anything either... They're just going for pure on gameplay here, hence why it's non-canonical..

They say it's canon. I don't get it either, but that's been in many of the more recent interviews. O.o

There have been countless arguments in threads here about this matter. If more information were known (like if this is a prequel to ALL Silent Hills), things might make more sense. I don't see how, though (lots of the customization items are modern fashions... but that doesn't mean anything at all).
