I wouldn't mind a remake, but really I think it's best that SH itself just die. Still looking forward to Downpour, but they just need to do a new series.

I'm not talking about the UFO ending in 3, but if Silent Hill has to die, I'd rather there was an actual game in which the town began to collapse and burn. It could be seen through the eyes of a resident (Well 2 had James running past homes, and those lawns looked rather well kept!) who finally sees the horror of Silent Hill that others see but they have been oblivious to. Silent Hill Terminus?
Still, we don't know what's going to happen in Downpour.

Either if Naroon was joking or not, I agree with that. SH should have a decent death. What I mean is that I really dont want his game to become another title with a shitload of sequels, take Final Fantasy ir Resident Evil for example. They should take some time and come up with something good and definitive, in which either the towns "consumes" the reality, town´s destroyed, whathever. IF they do. I get this feeling that Konami aint done yet.

I'm not ready to see the series die. In fact, I think if Konami is willing to break out of the mold in which it cast the first few games (their inability to do so has been to the detriment of the series) and explore entirely new aspects of a reality in which mind influences matter, I think there can be quite a few good games in the pipeline.
The above post is intended to be factual, unless it isn't.

You're pretty. ^_^

I can understand the people who think "Silent Hill is over," I really do. I'm not being bitchy, I really do understand your viewpoint. So just out of curiosity, what do you want? Do you want it to just die and rest in peace or something?

It looks like things are getting too spicy for the pepper.

I was serious lol. I don't really want to wake up one day and see "Silent Hill XXV: Crimson Retribution" announced or anything. I'm all game for a few more titles, but it should just have one last game which is beyond epic and blows everyone's minds, and end it on that note. As long as the games keep selling, they'll keep making them though, just like how MGS4 should've been the last MGS title but Kojima is already talking about a fifth one.

emma gets the hugs for being so silly and carefree as usual ^_^

Ok, I can understand something becoming so diluted that it sucks. But they've been milking Batman for, like, how many decades now? I know it's not technically the same thing, but you're right. As long as they keeping pumping these out, we'll keep soaking them up. Like sponges. Like Silenty Hilly loving-y sponges.

I don't feel the series needs to die either. I also don't feel it needs to be wrapped up in one epic storyline and that's it. This series isn't crafted like that. I've mentioned this before in that this series is more in line with the old "Twighlight Zone series"...in that each episode stars different characters with some really bizarre situations happening to them.

SH doesn't need to build up to one incredible and magnificent moment...It's crafted in a way that we can have different characters and storylines for each outing. That's what it is in a nutshell...and the beauty of it is that most dev's don't have to follow a somewhat scripted path, because of how the otherworld itself is just so abstract and obscure, no rules really apply as to how they approach the madness.

But if it turns into people actually trying to find the source of the madness and then the source itself ends up being revealed,..(in this case possibly some type of huge monster), then that will instantly kill the mysterious theme and atmosphere of the series. Most characters try to find a way to escape the madness rather than to try to find the source of it anyway...

So i'm perfectly fine with this series creating new characters and new storylines for each new entry, and having new characters deal with their incredible dilema,.. it's really the best way to go and it gives dev's the opportunity to be creative without having to try and tie their storyline to past games. Each entry can be an amazing stand-alone experience and they can just let their imagination run wild, but still keep it within the regulations of the overall SH theme.

Again i understand how some folks are dissappointed with this series, but i don't want to see it end either...it's the only series that is still holding on to it's disturbing horror roots.

I think that SH1 should be just left alone. I don't get the sudden interest to have remade in HD. I believe if it is remade some of the magic from the original will be lost. Let's just leave it as it is.

Are you talking about the revenge seeker? Or Batman in particular? Because he's just a comic book character. Yeah, he's from the golden age and all that what-not, but he's still just a comic book hero.

I wasn't talking about the hypothetical last game having the protagonist(s) find some mythical source behind everything that's happened, because that'd be dumb. It's been established that the town has been fucked up way before SH1 or Origins even happened, so that's the way it should stay. What I meant by a final epic game is just that, a final game with a really great story that resonates well with most and a game overall that is regarded as amazing. Of course, that's extremely hard to achieve nowadays, especially with such a divided, jaded fanbase like the SH fanbase, so yeah. A far cry, but my sentiment nonetheless.

The concept of random people going through their own hell and all that is pretty cool, that's a large part of what SH is about, but I still don't wanna see it happen forever. It'd get stale eventually, and people would be bitching more than they are now.

Heh..yeah, i misunderstood the whole "EPIC" gaming concept and in that case i agree,...i know what you mean by it possibly becoming stale as well as nothing lasts forever, but even so, i still don't want this series to end. I don't think the series will truly die tho...along with the opportunity to create interesting stand-alone storylines, there still lies the interest of a new SH game whenever the new iteration of consoles drops...the next PS or Xbox console always has dev's and consumers alike wondering how the next game will look.

Even aside from the general notion of wondering how the next SH game will look, i feel the series still has just enough fans to keep it relevant. It is painful tho when i see pics of the SH Prop at E3 or at gaming events and it's practically empty. The true horror gen games like SH were never really huge blockbusters to begin with and i know it can be incredibly tempting to go the route of RE5 or Left for Dead just to garner bigger sales, but i'm glad the series is still trying to hold on to it's disturbing and bizarre atmosphere.

So if the series does eventually die, i hope it'll be with it giving us the best storyline we've ever experieced like you stated.

Princess Lea's Silent Hill Experience.

First scene. Me walking through Silent Hill.

PL: Hmm, bit quiet here. It'll do.

(Changes to the Otherworld)

PL: Argh! I confess! I stole a toy car from a shop when I was 9 and it's been eating away at me all this time!!!

(End credits)

Conclusion: Best leave the writing to the experts...
