Someone has to do something!

Post by gustavopi on Sat Nov 26, 2011 3:43 pm

I still don't get why SH1 wasn't included in HD pack. It's the very first one and it's better than SH3 (I didn't played SH3 yet but everyone says so). A technical issue? It's a CD, could be a mini DVD with extras included...

A couple months ago I install Duke Nunkem 3D HD made by fans. It's a beauty, all I wanna see in my LCD monitor - remember when we played on a monitor 15 inches 256 colors? I hope the SH fans got that skils to do the same, someone got to do it!

They can't make SH 1 HD since it's a PS1 game.

I suppose fans could make a good effort, but I don't know how you could successfully remake a PS1 game in HD - it's an older game; the graphics are going to be older-looking no matter how you dice it. But, maybe I'm totally wrong.

Also, I'm sorry to say this, but saying that SH1 is better than SH3 when you haven't even played SH3 is kind of strange. If you're just saying that because everyone else says it, then it's not really your opinion - you're just basing your judgement on other people's opinions. :? Maybe you should play SH3 first and then think it over. I'm trying not to have an unnecessarily negative tone when I say this - it might just be a good thing to do.

Agreed with the above. It isn't included because it can't be upscaled without looking horrendous. If there were any sort of re-release, it'd have to be completely redone, a la REmake.

This. And there isn't enough time and justification to do a complete remake. Plus, it's on PSN in most territories.

That's why I use the example of Duke 3D, the bitmap graphics was changed by real 3D (the pigs are in 3D!). If it can be done by fans, can be done by the enterprise, thought.

I'll play SH3 for sure, but only my opinion will not justify my own theory. I think is a consensus that SH1 is better, that's what matters.

A SH2 and SH3 graphic improvement it's "easy", they could spend more time for the real challenge. Course, they have other things to do, Downpour for instance. My hope is the fans or a "Star Wars" like remake.

The story and gameplay created in SH1 is't old yet, and is what matters at the end.

SH1 would still look like a PS1 game even if it were upscaled natively and had tons of filters to hide artifacts and smooth out the textures. It just wouldn't be worth it.

I'm down for a complete remake of SH1 one day, but whether or not they'll do that, who knows.

I wouldnt say imposible, but it´d be pointless. Call me whatever you want, but Id love to see a SH remake. Im curious how they would handle it.

We were talking about a remake in a recent pod. But Konami might hold off on it for awhile.

Following my own example: Duke took 13 years. It's a sequel, but players are saying that it's very like the original, so we may consider a remake. Meantime, fans do the hard job:

This is a view of a remake. And the service was complete, including 3D moving for objects that were bitmaps in the original. That's what make me dream about a SH1 remake.

Considering Konami and thinking only about the nostalgia of the very first game, I agree that may be pointless, but you can remake the game and add interesting things in the game, like parallel stories, minigames, etc, and outside like making off, interviews, things that we pay for. Than the production will pay for itself.

Its simply because SH1 couldnever look HD. SH 2 nd 3 can.

People seem to understand what HD really means. Its not like they have remade this game... All they have done it saved stuff at a slighty higher qualitty (which isent much)

There is absolutely no point in this being released

If they would remake the game entirely, meaning new motion capture, new voice acting, new textures, new models, the whole shebang while retaining perhaps the music, then yes, I'd be interested in this being re-released. Otherwise... C'mon, now! Go drag your PS1 out of the dust and pop it in!

This is the one game I never want to see remade. TS created something magical with all the limited tech available back then.No other game in the series has come within a thousand miles of generating its unique sense of fear and disorientation. For the best experience slip the disc into your PS3,adjust the screen ratio and enjoy!

Silent Hill 1 would not need a complete remake. It wouldn't look perfect, but they could easily remake many of the textures to make it look better. Look at how good they made Perfect Dark look in HD? Of course, the N64 was better graphics than the PS1, but I still don't see why a port couldn't be made. It's not going to look perfect, but I don't care about that! It's still going to be a great game and would love to play it on a current gen console. The Resident Evil Revival Selection's FMV sequences looked rather bad quality because of the upscale, but it didn't bother me.

Why would you want a remake to be the same game you've beaten a hundred times already?

The original game looks like shit now. It didn't even look all that great in 1999.
The above post is intended to be factual, unless it isn't.

What Janethe Nurse said. Considering the low-poly models of EVERYTHING in the game, it wouldn't just be textures needing to be remade. they would completely have to redo everything, from models to textures to coding, and I really doubt they'd consider that a worthwhile endeavor when they could just make a new game.

I still think if they'd do it, they'd manage to fuck it up anyway so I'd just as soon they didn't.

I personally never thought they'd do the 2nd & 3rd in High Def, so there's a part of me that now worried about this shit happening. They really would have to start from scratch, and then all the whiney bitches would bring SM up and pretend it was the same thing.

Actually now that I'm thinking about it, that could be equally as hilarious as it is annoying. Bring it on.

It looks like things are getting too spicy for the pepper.
