The MPAA has classed Revelation as an R for "violence and disturbing images, some language and brief nudity".

I didn't expect it to get a PG13 rating. It's probably best it is rated R.
Oh, you think darkness is your ally. You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it--I didn't see the light until I was already a man. By then, it was nothing to me but blinding! The shadows betray you because they belong to me!

Seems like a normal rating for the games.

I wonder what it will be in the UK... I'm going to put my money on a 15. No actual money being involved, of course XD

I would've been disappointed if it got anything less than an R.

Yeeeeaaahhhhh, I would have been VERY concerned if it got a PG-13 rating. It's meant for mature audiences, not a Disney movie

Well, SH3 is not that bad, not so adult like SH2, and PH may be given the ladies a break.

WhiteClaudia: some old Disney movies actually was disturbing to me when I was a kid, like Pinocchio and Snow White.

Everyone already beat me to the punch. R sounds just about right. If it were anything less, we'd be bitching that it wasn't "scary" enough.

It looks like things are getting too spicy for the pepper.

Well, to be fair, a horror movie doesn't need an R rating to be scary.

*reads^ and ponders*

Well, I guess there COULD be some pretty good jump scares and whatnot, but I imagine most movies would need that special degree of 'disturbing imagery' and/or 'overall intensity.' Hmmm...yeah, I guess it depends on how we're classifying scary. Does anybody know any good PG13 horror movies? I'm trying to think of one now.

Come on, a typical and good horror movie is an adult movie, no children allowed! This "R" means what this movie is: a sequence of little frights with a little disturbing story behind. How can you really freak out an adult without involving deep issues of life?

In the first movie, with the real PH the R would be NC-17.

Now it's my turn to throw a "reference of doom" into the conversation. ;)

Well, here are a few examples (some are even rated PG):

The Ring
1408
Drag Me to Hell
Poltergeist
The Sixth Sense
Salem's Lot
The Legend of the Hell House
The Others

Here's one that made millions of people afraid of water or rather, things in water
REVEAL SPOILER
Jaws.

Back in the 70's and early 80's they didn't have PG-13.

Some of the list are not "horror" movies, but I'm surprised with the ratings anyway. I'm old fashion! I have to agree with you with "The Ring", "The Sixth Sense" and "1408" are good without needing a higher rating.

Angel Heart is rated as 18 in Brazil but "R" in USA. I think only a scene of Bill-Lewinsky will gain NC-17.
