Don't lie. You know you want to know ^_^
Oh, you think darkness is your ally. You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it--I didn't see the light until I was already a man. By then, it was nothing to me but blinding! The shadows betray you because they belong to me!

I can picture this small little bear with an angry face and a little leather jacket yelling in this cute voice.

It's aaaaaaarrrrrttttt!!!!! hahahaha

oh dude, this is good.

Okay, so I don't remember what I wanted to write because this made me laugh out loud.
It does sound like that when I talk about how much I loath the movies. I hate them almost as much as I hate myself.
I don't see why we should take plot being changed. Just because its a different media source? COME ON!
You know, even if you can convince me of even one reason to take differences in the movie, I still wouldn't be satisified.
expecting the movie target audience to be dumber and shallow MAKES THEM dumber and SHALLOW.
Give the people something complex and deep, and you make them complex and deep thinkers.
I hate it when a book gets a movie and the movie is nothing like the book.
If you're going to change the points of the book in the movie, just make a different movie.

You're making assumptions. How is the mere act of changing the plot mean that the studio is treating the audience like they're dumb and shallow. Besides, a carbon copy of the game would be incredibly boring. It's not like SH3 had the strongest plot to begin with. I love the game and all, but still.

My assumption is what I know.
Since movies are always so different from the games or books (original media), viewers have just accepted that this is the way it HAS to be. See?
It doesn't have to be like that.
A carbon copy? No, I don't think it would be.
Make Silent Hill as it was in the game, however, use the new film to elaborate on aspects of the game. For example, a new movie about silent hill 1 comes out. The film is exactly like the game, however, it has some new monsters that help elaborate on symbolism. There are new mini-characters that help move the plot along. There can be interesting bits of information about the town and the Gods or new Gods, or how other towns may be effected or affected (homage to Silent Hill 4 and Homecoming). Add some new areas to the movies that play upon the puzzle ideas and add more doom to the situation as the main character tries to solve some ingenius puzzle that reveals a deep dark secret or a shameful flaw.
OR
A New Silent Hill movie comes out. It has nothing to do with the other silent hill games. EXCEPT, it follows the lore and history of the Silent Hill town. It is a stand alone story, like silent hill 2 or 4. This silent hill movie can be about whatever, as long as it plays by Silent Hill rules. There are the ancient spirits of the land, the God, the dark memories that haunt the town, spirits, dream world, other world, and a bogeyman (Not Pyramid Head, but like the bogeyman of Downpour).

Wow, see? That movie would be sweet.

That's exactly what Revelation is doing to an extent.

Yeah but Heather Mason and Harry Mason are totally screwed up. Harry is supposed to look for his little girl. Cheryl is supposed to be followed in a shopping mall. She doesn't have Justin Beiber as a sidekick. See? Way too many lame things going on in revelations.

The adaptations from books include suppressions, digest (if the book is a novel...), different places and other movie resources. But changing the situations, the relationships, personality profiles, etc.. change to a "inspired in" movie instead an adaptation. I don't care about where Heater is founded by the Order, but Vincent cannot be with her and PH cannot show up because this is not "Scary Movie". To me, it doesn't matter if this movie will be good or not, it's already a failure in the task of getting SH into another media.

Personally (don't kill me please!), I think Silent Hill will never be on the big screen. The time for this happens has past, we didn't got the luck of a inspired team take this job. Even Guns and Avary were more interested in doing a good horror movie that been faithful to the story. On the other hand, we have a universe that is not so easy to get in!
