I Was Curious, How Do You Fellow Silent Hill Fans Or Better Yet Silent Hill 4 Fans Feel About Seeing Henry's Apartment In The New Silent Hill 8:Downpour? Personally I Thought It Was AMAZING, I Was So Happy And Excited To See It And Had No One To Tell, So I Joined This Forum. And I Would LOVE To Talk About It xDDD

I thought it was a smack in the face. But then, I could just be bitter since I found most of Downpour to be a smack in the face. If they were going to put the apartment in the game, looking like it did when Henry was locked inside, they would have been better off doing it in an Otherworld sequence. Murphy's Otherworld was basically M.C. Escher running wild in his head and something like apartment 302 wouldn't have been so out-of-place.

You should have put this in the Downpour section. Thanks for spoiling it for me, bro.

Floodclaw is right. We have a huge thing about Downpour spoilers. Don't do this again. Thanks.

No. It's rude and inconsiderate. Some of the posters here are in other countries where the game hasn't even been released yet. No offense, but this is kind of something you should know. Specifically, at the top of the DP forum is an explanation about spoilers. People don't want to know about the game they haven't got to play yet. So, either mark the entire thread spoilers or your comments. Otherwise, we have consequences for posting open spoilers everywhere and its not pretty.

The apartment is a direct reference to another game. While this isn't a spoiler in terms of the game's story it is a spoiler in terms of the game's content.
Most players find these 'random' references to past games in the series a small surprise, especially when happened upon by accident. A player who doesn't know the apartment is there isn't expecting it when they enter it through the window. Once inside, they see what it is and there is a moment of pause for them and a big smile on their face.
In that way, this thread is a spoiler.

Sidequests effect the story...

I can see how you wouldn't have thought about it that way. The warning is rather specific in that sense. Maybe we should have the spoiler warning modified to include that kind of game content also?

It still ruins something in the game that isn't obviously in there. It's more than a few minutes into the game, and generally anything like that is considered a spoiler.

I have to agree with MurphyPendelton. The side quests have nothing to do with the storyline of the game. The side quests, technically, don't even have stories of their own. The game still ends the same few ways whether you do the side quests or not. Side quests are just extra nonsense.
This was not even a side quest anyway. This was an Easter egg. He is right in his defense that the spoiler warning does not take into account Easter eggs and other items not story related. The idea of 'story' in the spoiler warning needs to be expounded upon. MurphyPendelton obviously thought 'story', as it was presented in the spoiler warning, meant the story involving the main character and plot progression. Easter eggs are not a part of that story.
Technically, he did follow the spoiler warning exactly. If there is a fault, it is in the warning not being clear enough as to the items it covers.

The one side quest effects the ending.

Actually some sidequests have something to do with the story of the game, the theater one and police cars one for example.

I didn't finish the game yet and completed all the sidequests but from what I have seen so far some do have something to do with the story.

It's true that he followed the spoiler warning, but it is still a spoiler, a spoiler for a great surprise.

The Only Things That Effect The Ending Are The Decisions You Make Towards Other People "Like Will He Die Or Not" Kind Of Decisions. Just Like In SHH

Yes I heard those affect the ending, killing or just decapitating monsters also affects the ending from what I heard.

One sidequest does affect the ending, I heard that you get a new sidequest in second playthrough, completing that sidequest gives you the joke ending.

Other sidequests don't affect the ending but some do have something to do with the story.
