The series is going downhill fast and if Konami keeps this up it will die. I am a die hard silent hill fan and that is why i enjoyed Downpour, even with all its lag and bugs but if i were anyone else i would have thrown a fit over such a horrible put game.

Truth of the matter that for some, the ranking is as follows:

hmmm...

downpour- story blows my mind, pants soilingly spooky, great side quests and combat wasn't really a problem for me.

shattered memories- not scary in the least but just a butt-load of fun with the profiling and nice twist

the room- the ghost always seem to creep me out especially when they pin me to a wall to moan in my ear. i like the creativity and the story certainly is unique.

SH2- crazy scary, definitely the best out of the series (but i think downpour is second) its #4 cause i have only played it once from how crazy scary it is to me.

SH3- love the story, decent follow up for the first game, some silly voice acting but over all very creepy themes. also loved the thought that the creatures are people (thanks Vincent lol)

SH1- good start for the series, actually was creeped out alot by it despite the graphics (which no one could blame it of course) and just a solid story of a poor schmuck getting involved with something and getting in way over his head.

Homecoming- i actually play this alot, a few really creepy images and the puzzles are silly fun but the combat is so very powered i like to play it to blow off steam. (Knife combos!!!)

origins- the story was pretty good. some really good mind fukcs and concepts. the combat was a constant annoyance to me tho and just felt like i was putting up with it until the next puzzle or cutscene. also hated how winded he got so easily (tho i guess truck drivers don't get too much exercise... excluding the guy from over the top lol)

I have yet to play in in total but so far it is becoming a favorite so far, up with SH2 + SH4 as my favorite. Once I've completed it I will put them all in order.
